As Julia's career has exploded since headlining the 1990s romantic comedy Pretty Woman, which grossed $464 million worldwide her hair texture and styles have changed dramatically.

By the time Julia won the Academy Award for Best Actress in 2001 for her performance in Erin Brokovich there was no sign left of her natural curls or her natural red hair color.

Various polls about Julia's hair texture have shown that fans prefer the actress with stick straight strands over curly ones.

In fact, fans have even indicated they prefer her hair straight when she wears her tresses up.

Why? The center part makes her square shaped face appear even wide. A side part is more flattering giving the illusion of more chiseled cheeks and a less square shaped face.

Fringe

Julia has naturally curly hair which probably explains while the superstar is rarely ever seen with any type of bangs.

If she does wear any type of fringe it is usually pulled to one side and incorporated into the rest of the hair.

Whether Julia's natural curls are chemically straightened or temporarily straightened with a blow dryer, flat iron or similar, a fringe with natural curls can be a lot of maintenance.

If her hair is prone to frizzing any type of fringe would be a major risk.

How To Steal Julia Roberts Long Hair

Julia's hair is medium to medium thick and usually consists of long layers which are perfect for creating long beautiful waves.

Step 1

Start by rinsing hair completely with lukewarm water. Make sure that all of your strands are wet.

Select a moisturizing shampoo formula like Phytojoba or a formula like Phytocitrus for colored hair.

If your hair is very dry, shampoo with a diluted formula to protect delicate strands.

Step 2

To dilute shampoo mix 1 part of your favorite product in a freshly washed container with 8-10 parts of warm water. Shake until the mixture forms a suds.

Drizzle the suds over the top of your crown and pat into wet strands. Gently drizzle some of the sudsy formula down the length of your strands. Pat carefully.

Step 3

Gently squeeze excess water out of the strands. Apply your favorite leave-in conditioner with your fingers.

Match the conditioning product to your hair type, texture and condition.

Work the appropriate rinse-out conditioner into the driest parts of your hair. Leave on for up to five minutes. Separate hair into 2" horizontal sections and detangle from the ends up to the roots with a wide tooth comb or fingers.

Rinse well. Finish with a cool to cold water rinse.

Step 4

Towel blot your strands to remove excess drips. Apply your favorite detangling product or leave-in conditioning product.

Keep in mind that if you have fine or thin strands, you will want to use a very light detangling spray. For medium to thicker strands, use a heavier conditioning product.

Step 5

Flip your head upside down and apply a volumizing product at the base of the hair shaft and gently work it through to the ends.

Lift your head and split hair into four sections and create an irregular, zigzag middle-front part. This will help to create more height at the crown.

Step 6
