Hair Pulling At Wedding - Hair As A Weapon

It was widely reported in the media that in Hebron, Indiana recently the police were called to a wedding.

Why?  The bride's sister apparently crashed the wedding reception and starting pulling chunks of hair out of the head of her newly married sister during a brawl.

Wow! Things get crazy at weddings.  But yanking hair out of the head of the bride?  There is definitely a movie in this topic.  Oh yeah.  That's right.  There already is.

With Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway.  I don't think either of the brides in the Bride Wars movies pulls hair out but it could certainly be used for a future film.

In one scene Anne Hathaway (Emma) unleashes her revenge on Kate Hudson (Liv) by sneaking into the hair salon where Kate is getting her hair color done and manages to get blue into the dye bowl so Kate's hair turns a hideous shade of blue.

That certainly is a hair disaster and indeed, Anne Hathaway used hair dye as a type of weapon.  Anyone with blonde hair knows that applying a much darker color like black, brown, blue, red or pink can cause major problems.  Sometimes the darker color can stain the hair cuticle making it difficult to lift the darker colors out.

In another scene the two brides brawl and Anne Hathaway literally jumps on top of Kate Hudson while they're both wearing wedding gowns.  Anne Hathaway told Ellen Degeneres it was a difficult scene to film because of the material on the wedding gowns.

Real Life Bridal Hair War

It seems that the real life scenario revolved around 23 year old Annmarie Bricker of Valparaisco who is now charged with a misdemeanor battery count for the attack of her sister, Lori Kappes, the bride.

Lori had just married Nicholas Landry and was a reception which was hosted by a friend.  The bride was attacked on the front porch of the house where the reception was being held.

Although the bride had "clumps of hair missing" and her makeup was smeared, she chose to pass on any medical treatment.

Innocent Of All Bridal Assault Charges?

Annmarie told the police who arrested her that she had only wanted to "confront her sister" and "just wanted to talk" about family issues.  She claimed to be innocent of attacking her sister.  She told police "I never touched her".

But what was really happening here?  Was it a case where the bride had snubbed her own sister from the wedding or what else was going on.  Of course I am a big believer in the idea that there always two sides to every story.  Maybe the bride had a very good reason for not inviting her sister.

Great Idea For Crime Show

Which brings up the question, did the bride pull clumps of her own hair out of her head to get her rowdy sister arrested?  Or did the sister really attack the bride?  Just imagine all the wonderful possibilities for a TV show.

Will we ever know?  Will this show up on a CSI or other crime show with the bride found dead later on with the sister the prime suspect?  Hey, sounds like a great story to me.

The sad thing is that hair can often be used like a weapon.  In fact, it is known by serial killer watchers that some will actually target people with longer hair because it allows the killers to hold the victim in place with more force.  Who would have ever thought that hair could be used as a weapon?  Well it definitely can.

In Closing

Have you ever heard of hair pulling or a similar hair brawl at a wedding.  Or at any event, for that matter.  I would love to hear about it.

More About Bride Wars

If you haven't seen the movie Bride Wars about two prospective brides fighting, you may want to check it out.  Although the critics don't all seem to like it, many viewers have really enjoyed the antics of Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway.  It certainly is an appropriate film for this recent news article about a bride and her sister.
