CSI: Crime Scene Investigation returns for their tenth seaon on Thursday, September 24, 2009. I have been watching the show, never missing an episode, since it premiered on CBS on October 6th, 2000.
(Season 1: "Cool Change" - The CSI team, including (from left to right) Warrick Brown (Gary Dourdan), Catherine Willows (Marg Helgenberger), Nick Stokes (George Eads) and Gil Grissom (William Petersen) investigate the murder of a Las Vegas mega-winner, on CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION, Friday, October 13, 2000 (9:00-10:00 PM/ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Even before I saw the first episode I knew I would love the show because it was produced by Jerry Bruckheimer (show was created by Anthony E. Zuiker), it was set in Las Vegas and filmed at Universal Studios (my favorite studio) in Universal City, California.
As a buff of true crime books, movies and related TV series, I was thrilled a show about solving crimes would be airing on CBS (a network always supportive of the Internet media unlike some other unnamed networks).
(For Warrick" -- The CSI's (Eric Szmanda, Archie Kao, Marg Helgenberger, David Berman, George Eads, Marc Vann, Jorja Fox) attend Warrick's funeral as they struggle to reconcile with the loss of their partner on CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION, on the ninth season premiere, Thursday October 9th, on the CBS Television Network. CSI also starred two of my long time favorite actors - William Petersen and Marg Helgenberger. Did you see William Petersen in the film The Contender? He plays a henpecked governor (by his wife) who resorts to dirty tricks to win the Vice Presidential job in the presidency of Jackson Evans played wonderfully by Jeff Bridges. Only problem? A young woman needlessly dies as a result of his attempt to become a National Hero.
As far as Marg (the G is pronounced as a hard G) is concerned, who didn't adore the gorgeous red haired actress as K.C. Koloski in China Beach? Afterall she won an Emmy for her acting in that spectacular role.
(Season 1: "Table Stakes" - Catherine (Marg Helgenberger, left) and Grissom (William Petersen, right) examine the evidence in the case of a corpse found floating in a swimming pool, on CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION, Thursday, February 22, 2001 (9:00 - 10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. I could believe how incredible it was to have both of those two amazing actors together in one show. Of course I wasn't disappointed. Besides enjoying William and Marg in their various roles, I feel in love with the rest of the cast including Warrick Brown, a hard nosed CSI analyst with insider knowledge of the gambling world and his own problem; Nick Stokes, the handsome and charming yet ambitious crime-solver; and Sara Sidle, a dedicated and inquisitive investigator who shares a mysterious past with Grissom.
Let's not forget big teddy bear Capt. Jim Brass, assigned to Homicide; Greg Sanders, the wacky tech analyst with the crazy hairstyles (who eventually is promoted to a full blown CSI analyst) and brilliant medical examiner Dr. Robbins.
William as Gil Grissom, the senior forensics officer, led the team of investigators at the Criminalistics Bureau in Las Vegas.
Throughout every season up until the current tenth I have watched Gil battle his inner demons, support and care about his team including dealing with the firsthand tragic death of Warrick Brown the near death and ultimate resignation of Sara Siddell as well as a wide range of other personal and professional challenges.
(Season 2: "Burked" - Grissom (William Petersen, left) and Catherine (Marg Helgenberger, right) investigate the death of a well known Las Vegas mogul's son, on CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION, Thursday, September 27, 2001 (9:00 - 10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Even with all of the various background dramas, Gil never wavered in leading the CSI team in their role as forensic scientists tasked with unveiling the the circumstances behind mysterious and unusual deaths and other crimes.
After eight and a half seasons William Peterson as Gil, hung up his lab coat for the last time and traveled to reunite with his long time hidden love, Sara Siddell. Brilliant actor Laurence Fishburne stepped into the role of the CSI leader as Dr. Raymond Langston, a former medical doctor turning criminalist in an attempt to rid himself of all his own nasty demons.
(Season 5: "Who Shot Sherlock" - Greg Sanders (Eric Szmanda) investigates the murder of a Sherlock Holmes enthusiast found dead in his perfectly re-created Victorian Era Baker Street study, on CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION,Thursday, January 6, 2005 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Over the course of the past nine seasons CSI has often been the number one show on the CBS network. CSI has also been nominated numerous times for industry awards and has won nine awards during its history.
The success of the program has led it to be spun off into two additional shows, an exhibit at Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry, a series of books, and several video games. It has reached milestone episodes, such as the 100th, Ch-Ch-Changes, the 150th Living Legend which starred Roger Daltrey from The Who and the 200th, Mascara, airing on April 2, 2009.
CSI is a fast-paced drama about a passionate team of forensic investigators trained to solve crimes the old-fashioned way -- by examining the evidence. They are on the case 24/7, scouring the scene, collecting the irrefutable evidence and finding the missing pieces that will solve the mystery.
At the end of Season Nine in 2009 CSI starred the following actors and actresses: Laurence Fishburne as Dr. Raymond Langston, Marg Helgenberger as Catherine Willows, George Eads as Nick Stokes, Paul Guilfoyle as Capt. Jim Brass, Robert David Hall as Dr. Robbins, Eric Szmanda as Greg Sanders, David Berman as David Phillips, Wallace Langham as Hodges, Liz Vassey as Wendy Simms, Lauren Lee Smith as Riley Adams.
I for one can't wait for CSI Las Vegas to return with new episodes for the Fall of 2009. I believe it will be one of their very best seasons ever. Yes, I will miss William Peterson but I am excited to see Marg taking a stronger lead and I have always loved the work of Laurence Fishburne. Word on the street is that the writing is spectacular and all of the long term actors will step up for new and exciting character developments and plots twists.
Yes, it will be a very good new season for CSI in Las Vegas.
