Yes this blog is mainly about hair, beauty, fashion, accessories and related topics ranging from fragrance to nails with a little bit of "going green", health and diet thrown in. I even talk about celebs, TV, films and music.

Of course I love living in Dallas, Texas. I wasn't born here but have been here since 1984 so to me it's more home than St. Louis where I grew up. In fact, when people ask me where I'm from I always say Dallas, never St. Louis unless they specifically ask where I was born.
Which brings me to Abacus. One of the ways my now departed husband Michael and I discovered Dallas was by exploring a wide range of restaurants. Dallas has some of the most amazing restaurants to experience. While we don't have as many as New York or LA (two of favorite cities to visit), Dallas does hold their own with some amazing offerings.
Abacus is owned by chef Kent Rathbun who my husband and I first discovered when he was still a sous chef at The Mansion on Turtle Creek. He used to come out of the kitchen and say hello which was always a treat. From there he bounced around a little bit landing at The Melrose Hotel where we faithfully dined until Kent left. He then opened his own restaurant, Abacus, which we visited whenever possible. It is truly a splendid dining experience.
After Abacus he branched off to open Jaspers in Plano which is in a slightly more informal setting than Abacus but with great food, service and a louder atmosphere. Jaspers was not only close to our home but my husband loved to dine there on weekends. We visited often.
The prices at Jaspers are scaled to the more informal experience. Kent has also opened additional dining establishments, but my two favorites are Abacus and Jaspers.
There is also two Jaspers locations outside of Dallas which includes Austin and The Woodlands.
I'm on Kent's mailing list and whenever I see some good deals from his eating establishments I like to share them with anyone in Dallas who is interested. Even if you just plan to visit Dallas, you may want to check out one or all of his various restaurants.
I just received word of the various Stimulus Packages Kent is offering at Abacus and Jaspers which I have included below.
Please note that I am not aware of how long these packages will last so when in doubt please call each of the restaurants to verify if the packages are still valid or for additional details.
