Wella Professionals International Trend Vision Award (ITVA) is one of the largest international hairdressing events of its kind. The event annually brings together the very best hairdressing talent from over 50 countries, to compete in the categories of Young Talent and Color.

The participants were given a unique opportunity to showcase their interpretations of Wella Professionals' yearly trend forecast, Trend Vision which has four unique, distinct trends.

The 2009 winners were selected by a jury comprising of some of the world's most respected industry experts, including the Wella Professionals Global Creative Directors Eugene Souleiman and Josh Wood, Mayouri Sengchanh from respected trends agency, Carlin, SelectNY Worldwide Creative Director, Olivier van Doorne, Wella Professionals Color Ambassadors in Germany, Petra Brockmann and Thomas Brockmann-Knoedler of BrockmannundKnoedler and Frank Freyer of Trio Hair & Company, the Wella Professionals Trend Ambassador in Germany and Beauty Directors of German and Chinese Vogue, Regina Stahl and Ida Wang.

Intercoiffure Thoma, Gold winners in the Young Talent category, competed against 48 talented, ambitious stylists aged 30 and under.

Their winning creation was inspired by the DeLush trend from Wella Professionals' Trend Vision 2009.

It featured beautifully feminine, dense curls which extended outwards to create dramatic and contemporary width to the style.

The warm copper shade was carefully complemented by the blushing porcelain complexion of the model.

The Zoo Hair team, winner of the Color category was chosen from a 33 strong group of outstanding colorists of all ages.

Their statement creation presented a blunt, symmetrical fringe subtly shaped into a razor-sharp graphic crop for their interpretation of the InterseXion trend. The rich ebony, though intense, was effortlessly glamorous and rich and in spite of the drama and simplicity of the look it remained stunningly feminine and wearable.

Entries were judged on their total creative vision and appreciation of the chosen trend as well as their skill and innovation in color work and styling.

Eugene Souleiman, Judge and Wella Professionals Global Creative Director Care & Styling said, "Intercoiffure Thoma have created something really inspirational here.

Not only with a beautiful shape and color, but they have really encapsulated the essence of the DeLush trend and the spirit of the woman who would wear it."

Josh Wood, Judge and Wella Professionals Global Creative Director, Color added, "It is an absolute pleasure to award the Gold for Color to the Zoo team. They have used color to really work with the cut. It's an Haute Couture look but done so beautifully it could be worn every day, and that is central to InterseXion."

Gabi Schupp, Wella Professionals Global General Manager, says "Developing and nurturing new talent within our partner salons is hugely important to us and once again we have been thrilled by the creativity and mastery we have witnessed at this event.

The standard showcased here has been typically excellent and it is very rewarding and exciting to see the new generation give innovative interpretations of Trend Vision 2009."

The Gold Award winners will receive an attractive prize package including a comprehensive, tailor made education package and a trip to the 2010 ITVA event.

In just a few weeks preparation will begin for next year's event, ITVA 2010, following the announcement that it will be in Paris on November 7th.
