Although I am thrilled to hear that the lovely Miss Virgina has been crowned the 2010 Miss America I feel sad to see Miss America 2009 surrender the crown.
It's not like I personally know Katie Stam - Miss America 2009. But in a way I do. Afterall, I followed her reign very closely in this blog and read every one of her blogs. I also marveled at how much this bright, shiny and very beautiful young lady from Indiana accomplished over the past year.
When luck was on my side I caught her on television doing live interviews and I was very impressed with her poise and charm under fire.
Maybe I really admired Katie Stam because she was the first Miss America I followed so closely. Or maybe she was really a great example of the amazing young women that participate in the pageant that is so tied to America's hearts and old fashioned values.
While I will continue to follow Miss America 2010, I feel sad to see Katie Stam step down and hope to see her pop up in some other amazing role where she can inspire young women and people everywhere.
Good luck to Katie in all her life's journeys.
