Cheyne orchestrated a very elaborate romantic weekend in San Diego on Sunday, February 28th, to surprise Meghan with a long anticipated proposal. Well, at least it was anticipated by the media. Cheyne told PEOPLE "the question that comes up most is 'when are you guys going to get married?'
He also told PEOPLE "I've been planning this since the Race ended, so I've been like, ‘I'm working on it! I'm working on it!'
After a fake proposal on the Jimmy Fallon show Brides Magazine contacted Cheyne and asked if Meghan wanted to pose in a wedding gown. Instead of agreeing to arrange for Meghan to pose for Bride's Magazine, Cheyne asked the magazine to help him work on a really cool proposal that would rival the coolness factor on "The Amazing Race."
Cheyne told PEOPLE he had been working on the proposal since December 10th. Approximately two-and-a-half months.
The Big Proposal Day included a helicopter ride, lunch at a winery and a walk down memory lane. From there it was a trip to lookout point where the actual proposal happened with a copy of the April issue of Brides Magazine. Inside the magazine along with Meghan's name and a photo of the couple was the words which read, "Meghan, will you marry me?"
"I was shocked," the newly engaged Meghan admitted. "I was kind of confused at first, like, I just didn't know what was going on but once it hit me, I was in tears, and I was totally overwhelmed and shocked! It felt like I had won The Amazing Race!"
Cheyne pulled out the ring and got down on one knee. He said "I just told her that I've known since we started dating that she was the one."
For a final surprise, Whitney had a crew from Entertainment Tonight (ET) come out from the bushes to capture the happy engagement. "There were cameras hiding and it was all crazy," Meghan said. According to PEOPLE she also said "I didn't realize Cheyne had done all that work to make this happen."
