Cut Hair Not Trees

Paul Mitchell Schools recently rolled up their green sleeves to help raise national awareness of Earth Day.

During the week of April 20-24, the network of nearly 100 schools participated in a nationwide initiative to communicate a green message, offering a number of eco-friendly services such as recycling drives, community cleanups, and reducing carbon footprints in the school locations.

To kick off the Paul Mitchell Schools' Earth Week event, Paul Mitchell Future Professionals created the "Cut Hair, Not Trees" campaign. Guests at participating Paul Mitchell Schools during Earth Week could receive a haircut ranging from $10 to $12 along with a complimentary T3 Wash House Experience.

The cut hair was donated to Matter of Trust, an organization that weaves hair clippings into mats used for soaking up oil spills.

"Cut Hair, Not Trees" was launched to the public by television personality Al Roker in New York City's Rockefeller Plaza at The Today Show on April 21.

Future Professionals from the surrounding New York City area Paul Mitchell Schools such as Pulse Beauty Academy, the Lab, Academy NYC, Parisian Beauty Academy, and Cactus Academy dressed up in tree costumes of their own design while a large group of Future Professionals wearing "Cut Hair, Not Trees" T-shirts held up banners and passed out Tea Tree foil samples to the crowd.

Daily Hair Tip
For a low maintenance style, try to work with your natural hair type rather than against it. For example, if your hair is naturally wavy, select a hairstyle that works easily with the waves.
