Britain's Next Top Model Wannabes Get Major Hair Chops

If you watch any of the Next Top Model franchises around the world you know that at some point there will be a major makeover which is mandatory.  Usually the makeover involves hair in some dramatic way.

Long hair is most likely completely chopped off and short hair is extended.  The color is often changed as well and more often than not, the hue is dramatic in some way.

It was no surprise to read in thesun.co.uk about the two  competitors in Britains Next Top Model (BNTM) having their long locks hacked off.

BNTM wannabes Tiffany Pisani and Alisha White are the pick of the crop with their new short cuts on Britain's Next Top Model.

Both 18, the two future models were obviously traumatized by the dramatic makeover results.  Blonde Tiffany pleaded with hostess Elle Macpherson before her chop.  She asked "How short will it be?"  Elle responded "Really, really short... like a pixie."

The wannabe, from Malta, burst into floods of tears after her long blonde hair was cut into a major chopped elfin crop.

Alisha, a student from Clapham, South London, was shocked when she found out she had to lose her long pony tail.  She was left with a barely there buzz cut.

Is all of this makeover hair chopping necessary?  While I don't condone chopping off healthy long tresses for the sake of good Reality TV, I do understand the concept.  Afterall, a makeover has to have some major change to achieve the goal and the hair is always a way to make the most dramatic difference.

Tyra Banks, Oprah and some of the other talk show hosts throughout the years have been both praised and damned for their various makeover shows which almost always involved a major hair cut, color or texture change

The Living TV reality show is on at 9pm.
