Former American Idol contestant Alex Lambert (from Dallas area) swears his tweet of homelessness was not a publicity stunt to gain fame or free publicity, but the stunt, intentional or not, is bringing Alex national attention.
Alex's tweet sent his name soaring to the top of Twitter trends and Internet searching. His timing was uncanny since the newest season of the Fox hit aired January 19th for the first time. Alex Lambert, no relation to Season Eight's Adam Lambert, was eliminated from AI in March of 2010.
In a matter of hours after the former Idol contented posted a tweet that indicated he was "crashin behind buildings and sleepin outside", Google searches for "Alex Lambert" ranked at the top of Google`s top internet searches list, maintaining the top position for most of Wednesday morning.
Since hitting the news, multiple media sources, including Entertainment Weekly and MTV News, confirmed an "unidentified rep" for Lambert denied his claims and said he was lying on his Twitter. Some folks are accusing Lambert of posting the tweet as a publicity stunt for fame and attention.
It will be interesting to see if Lambert's Tweets about homelessness will help bring him back to National attention. Will former AI judge Ellen Degeneres take pity on Alex and have him on her show? Afterall, she has a big soft spot in her heart for anything to do with American Idol. Stay tuned to see how Alex fares.
