On Monday, March 28th at 10 PM (EST), Edie Falco returns in her Emmy®-winning and Golden Globe® nominated role in Nurse Jackie on Showtime.
Picking up right where last season left off, the third season begins with Jackie Peyton facing an unwanted intervention from her friends and family who have finally figured out she has major addiction problems.
Edie Falco was recently interviewed on the Red Carpet at The 2011 Golden Globes where she was nominated for an award. She looked stunning in a gorgeous one-shoulder red Valentino red gown with a matching clutch and was obviously having a great time. Her jewels were simple. She just wore a pair of diamond drop earrings.
The brilliant actress was quoted as saying about the awards "I rate award shows by my comfort level. Here, you eat, drink and walk around."
Edie was nominated for a 2011 Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series - Musical or Comedy.
Sadly she lost to newcomer Laura Linney for her role in The Big C. Although Edie lost she shared the category with such amazing talent as Toni Collette for United States of Tara, Tina Fey for 30 Rock and Lea Michele in Glee.
No worries, Edie has won four Emmy Awards, two Golden Globes and five Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAGs). She is the second actor to have won an Emmy for a lead acting role in both a Drama and a Comedy series.
The main characters in Nurse Jackie besides Edie include Dr. Eleanor O'Hara (Eve Best), a British doctor and Jackie's best friend at work ; Zoey (Merritt Wever), a jubilant first-year nursing student who "is the perfect foil for Jackie's sharp angles"; Dr. Cooper (Peter Facinelli), "a likable 'golden boy' whose calm façade hides a nervous disposition"; Eddie (Paul Schulze), a pharmacist with whom Jackie is having an affair.
Other characters include the officious hospital administrator Mrs. Gloria Akalitus (Anna Deavere Smith), Jackie's bar-owner husband Kevin (Dominic Fumusa), their daughters Grace (Ruby Jerins) and Fiona (Daisy Tahan season 1 — Mackenzie Aladjem season 2), and Thor (Stephen Wallem) the kind-hearted confidant of nurse Jackie and the real-life brother of show creator/executive producer Linda Wallem.
I am a huge fan not only of Edie and pretty much all of the cast, but I just adore the plots, the writing and of course the hair. Watching Nurse Jackie is a quilty pleasure for me. I lock myself in the TV room, turn off the phone and give the show my entire focus to avoid missing a single thing.
Thank you to Showtime for keeping this brilliant show on the schedule.
