Hair Struggles For Big Love's Ginnifer Goodwin Result In Wig Clause

Actress Ginnifer Goodwin (Margene Heffman on HBO's Big Love) has revealed to the media she requests using wigs rather than grow out her own short and edgy coif when an acting role requires a specific hairstyle.

Speaking recently to InStyle, the newly engaged actress, who recently unveiled a much shorter pixie style haircut with shaved sides, explained she struggles to retain her uniqueness and individuality when she's forced to wear certain hairdos tied to whatever character she is playing.

Goodwin, who also talked to People.com said that Big Love (currently airing its final season) and HBO “owned every hair on [her] head,” and she was tired of having to consult with the show before making trips to the salon.

"I now have a wig clause written into every one of my contracts," she said.

Goodwin explained "I find it hard to express myself when I'm growing out a very bad character haircut. As long as I can wear a wig, I can be any character [on the set] and in real life I can be myself."

Her character, Margene on Big Love, plays the third wife of a Utah family struggling with polygamy.  Her hairstyles have reflected her inner struggles including going platinum blonde in a recent season.

The beautiful brunette actress who is becoming known for her signature short haircuts will next appear on the big screen with Kate Hudson and John Krasinski in the romantic comedy film Something Borrowed, which is released on May 6 in the US.  She was part of an ensemble of actors in the film He's Not That Into You.

Her TV series Big Love returns with new episode 'The Noose Tightens' on Sunday on HBO.  This is the last season for the controversial series.
