Golden Princess Hair Inspires New Ice Cream Flavor

Hair has been the inspiration for a vast number of things over the years but to my knowledge, never an ice cream flavor.  Author G.O. Martinez changes all of that with the delightful tale in the new book "Count von Ice de la Cream and the Golden Ice Cream."  Martinez takes readers, most likely children or their parents, on a very magical journey to a faraway kingdom where the king's daughter has hair so beautiful, it inspires a new delicious flavor.

King Gustav's happy daughter Clarisse who is loved by everyone, especially her father, has the prettiest hair—long, golden hair which sparkles like diamonds—in the entire kingdom. Many people, and bottles of shampoo and conditioner, help in keeping Princess Clarisse's hair beautifully golden. The King has decreed his daughter's gorgeous hair to be a treasure in the kingdom.

On a journey into town the King and his daughter stop for ice cream and the legendary ice cream maker is inspired so much by the radiantly beautiful, shiny and delicious golden hair of the princess that he creates a new ice cream flavor based upon her hair.

Readers will find out what the Count concocts as they leaf through the pages of this charming picture book. “I hope you enjoy reading this story to your children as much as I did. And I hope they enjoy it as much as my children,” wishes author G.O. Martinez.

While I must confess I rarely check out children's books, this particular story has my interest because of the ties to the hair.  How interesting to create an ice cream flavor based upon hair.

Of course hair colors are often linked to food groups such as light chocolate brunettes, cherry red, creamy white blonde, butter blonde and even salt and pepper so why not cross link the other direction?  Even more importantly, will this create a new trend for a wide range of foods in the real world being inspired by hair?  Only time will tell but stranger things have happened.

If you love to read books to your children, have a fascination for using hair as inspiration for ice cream or related foods or just want to check out something new and interesting "Count von Ice de la Cream and the Golden Ice Cream" might be just the ticket.
