Republican presidential contender Mitt Romney will be announcing his official run for the presidency on Thursday. I've always had a special interest in Mitt, not because of my political views, but because he was a friend of my brother-in-law (Gordon Thayer) who went to Cranbrook Schools with the famous Mormon.
My mother-in-law once told me of a time where Gordon and Mitt were hanging out and somehow there was a weird mishap where Gordon's thumb landed in Mitt's eye. There were no hard feelings, it was an accident, but I always remember that story of Gordon and Mitt when I hear any news about the former governor.
I also love how Mitt is going gray gracefully. He looks amazing with his hint of gray throughout the temples.
Now that he's planning on making a second run for the presidency, Mitt Romney 2.0, the former CEO is trying to show the fun side of his personality.
Romney did an interesting interview with NBC's "Today Show" where he revealed he watched Fox/TV's American Idol and was rooting for Scotty, the ultimate winner. He noted “Scotty (McCreery) winning, that was terrific,” Romney said. “That guy’s got talent.”
The Massachusetts conservative confessed that he did not watch "The Voice" even though he was being interviewed by NBC. However, he does like vampires. His grandchild inspired him to check out the bestselling series and he noted “I mean I like the Twilight series.”
“I thought it was fun,” Romney added. “I don’t like vampires personally, I don’t know any but you know my granddaughter was reading it and I thought, well this looks like fun so I read that.”Although he admitted he doesn't own an iPod, he did say he has an iPhone and an iPad and listens to music on his iPad.
His taste in music? He said "a lot of 60s musics, 70s music, mostly rock, I like country music. The Beatles, I mean the Beatles were phenomenal,” Romney said.
Romney is working to improve the enthusiasm gap that exists towards him in the Republican Party. How? To showcase his photogenic wife and family which includes five grown sons and 16 grandchildren.
When he heard about the South Park Broadway show he told NBC he "laughed". He didn't take it in a bad light.
