How To Do A Refreshing Summer Scalp Massage

During hot sizzling summer months a scalp massage which is cooling, calming and offers a bit of a tingle is perfect for providing relief to your scalp, your hair roots and your soul.  It will also help you sleep deeply and relax.

Whether you go to a massage therapist, have a loved one do the honors or do it yourself there are some simple scalp massage tips listed below followed by some refreshing summer scalp massage recipes:

Scalp Massage Tips

1.  Never do a massage on a scalp which has obvious scabs, sores, abrasions or other irritations.

2.  Never do a massage with fingers or hands which have rough skin, sharp fingernails or other abrasions which could tear or rip delicate scalps.

3.  Scalp massages should be done very gently to avoid causing trauma to delicate scalp tissues or hair roots.

4.  When in doubt how to perform a scalp massage without causing damage to your research.

A scalp massage can be as simple or deluxe as you desire.  You can simply use an oil with a jojoba base, a hair oil, or you can use your favorite carrier oil such as almond, sesame, coconut or olive.  Or you can create a variety of refreshing massage recipes.  Listed below are an array of Scalp Massage Recipes.Scalp Massage Recipes

Listed below are some refreshing summer scalp massage recipes:

Refreshing Summer Scalp Massage

Eucalyptus Oil (1 ml or 20 drops)

Peppermint Oil (1 ml or 20 drops)

White Vinegar  (1 ml or 20 drops)

Combine equal parts of Eucalyptus and Peppermint Oil plus White Vinegar.   Use for a refreshing scalp massage blend. Mix together all ingredients and pour into a clean container with a tight fitting lid. Shake gently then pour a small amount into your hands and massage into the scalp.

It can also be used as a cooling spritz by pouring it into a clean glass spritzer bottle and spritzing on the scalp or the body.?

Relaxing And Refreshing Massage Blend

4 drops Lavender

1 drop Petitgrain

1 drop Frankincense

Add the above essential oils to 6 tsp of massage base with carrier oil such as jojoba, almond or sesame oil. Use for a relaxing and refreshing scalp massage blend. Mix together all ingredients and pour into a clean container with a tight fitting lid. Shake gently then pour a small amount into your hands and massage into the scalp.

Refreshing Summer Scalp Massage

The recipe below is from Janice Cox author of "Natural Beauty at Home" and "EcoBeauty."

Ingredients:

1 /2 cup witch hazel

1/ 2 teaspoon vegetable glycerin (available at most drug stores)

1 /4 teaspoon castor oil

1 -2 drops essential oil of lavender

Directions:

Mix together all ingredients and pour into a clean container with a tight fitting lid.  Shake gently then pour a small amount into your hands and massage into the scalp.

Refreshing Essential Oils

If you prefer the following essential oils are also known to be refreshing:  Lemon, Lime, Grapefruit, Mandarin and Orange Peel.

Use equal parts (drops) of any of the following oils mixed with a carrier oil base to create your own refreshing summer scalp massage.
