Banishing Bad Hair Days since 1997!™

How To Select Your New Hairstyle

How To Select A New Hairstyle For You

Unfortunately some people decide on a whim that they want a new hairstyle without considering all the factors involved.

It's only after they're leaving the salon with a hairstyle that they won't be able to easily maintain or will require a lot more time and daily effort that they understand the true price of the new hairdo.

Save yourself from any unnecessary bad hair days by asking yourself all the following questions before you select a new hairstyle.

When you're looking for a new hairstyle ask yourself the following questions:

1.  Decide how much time you're willing to spend to return to the salon in order to maintain your hairstyle.   Will it need frequent trims or color touch-ups? What about chemical treatment adjustments?

2.  Evaluate how much daily styling time will be involved and how much product or styling tools will be required.  Will you have to wash, blow dry and/or hot iron on a daily basis?

3.  Ask yourself how versatile the hairstyle will be.  Can it be styled for all parts of your lifestyle.  Can it be worn up, down or both.

4.  Estimate any additional costs which might be involved with the creation of the initial style, the ongoing maintenance or the acquisition of any new styling tools and/or hair products.

5.  Does the new hairstyle work with your current hair type, texture and condition?  Can the new hairstyle be worn either straight or naturally textured?

6.  How compatible is the new hairstyle with face shape, skin tone and facial features?  Is it age appropriate?

Summary

Always stop and take a deep breath before agreeing to any new hairstyle.

Daily Hair Tip
A humectant hair product attracts moisture to the hair while an anti-humectant repels moisture. Use a humectant to combat static electricity and an anti-humectant to deal with humidity.
