Mireille Enos Hair How To

Mireille Enos (born September 1975) is an actress best known for her role as twin sisters Jodeen and Kathy Marquart.  Jodeen and Kathy were famous for their long wavy hair on the HBO drama series Big Love (2007–2010.

Mireille went from playing a devout set of Mormon twins entangled with a maniacal Mormon leader to an obsessed police detective, Sarah Linden, in AMC's The Killing which premiered on April 3, 2011.

Mireille was mesmerizing in her role as Sarah.  She is a detective with a mysterious past, raising a teen-aged son by herself.

Although she was was engaged to marry, it required her to leave her detective job.  Ultimately she angered her future husband by constantly postponing her move to join him in favor of trying to solve a shocking murder.

A Mother In Real Life

Mireille who recently gave birth to a daughter (Vesper Vivianne Rick - 9/23/2010), completely deserved to be nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.  She was notified of her nomination on July 14, 2011.  In the past the actress was nominated for a Tony Award (Best Featured Actress in a Play) in 2005 for her performance in the Broadway production of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf.

The actress studied at Brigham Young University and is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  She married actor Alan Ruck on January 4, 2008.

The Killing Was Set In Rainy Northwest

The Killing was shot in Vancouver, Washington since the show is set in perpetually rainy Seattle.

When asked about working in a constantly rainy backdrop Mireille said in an interview that the climate added a lot to the show.  She said that it's impossible to get comfortable with the perpetually wetness.  But because her character Sarah has "so little comfort in her life -- wet and cold and out on the street and long hours and too tired."

So yes, Sarah's quiet and brooding nature is "all wrapped up in how good she is at living life in those really difficult conditions."

Of course the need to always look soggy meant that Mireille's hair had to be constantly spritzed with spray bottles full of water.  Mireille said "they had to get me wet between every take.  Seriously."

Mireille Enos Hair How To

Unlike some TV actresses, it's not as common to read about Mireille Enos' hair.  Why?  She has been relatively low key in her roles on Big Love where she showcased her red hair, but it was coiffed in traditional Mormon pompadours, long three strands and fishtail braids.

In her role as the determined police detective she wears her long red hair pulled back off her face and captured mid-back into a tight ponytail with loose waves dotted throughout the tail.

As a serious detective it would be inappropriate to see Mireille's character with a hairstyle that was anything other than an afterthought.

Step By Step How To

It appears that Mireille has medium to thick hair with a pattern of loose natural waves and curls.

When she appeared for the premiere of The Killing she showcased a beautiful wave and curl infused hairstyle which was very different from the hairstyles she has worn in Big Love and The Killing.  She actually was shockingly gorgeous and glam.

Follow the steps below to copy Mireille's wave infused ponytail:

1. Start  by cleansing hair in lukewarm water with shampoo designed to address your hair type, texture and current condition (dry, extra dry, oily, damaged, etc.,)  If appropriate consider doing a Diluted Shampoo (DS), Conditioner Only (CO) or similar wash.

2.  Rinse well and then apply rinse out conditioner from top of ears down to the ends.

3.  Detangle individual horizontal sections of hair with fingers or a wide tooth comb.  Work around the head from side to side.

4.  Towel blot hair to remove excess moisture.  Do not rub hair.

5.  Apply leave-in styling cocktail including, but not limited to detangling spray, leave-in conditioner, defrisant and/ore styling cream or mousse.6.  Use fingers or wide tooth comb to distribute the leave-in styling cocktail through the strands.

7.  Separate hair into 2-3" horizontal sections and dry with a long finger diffuser attachment attached to a blow dryer with a low heat, slow air flow setting.  After each section is dry roll the section around your finger and pin to form a ringlet.  Work around the head from side to side until entire head has been diffused dry.

8.  When hair is completely dry and set unpin each section.  Bend over at the waist and gently tousle hair to loosen.

9.  To fine tune waves and/or curls separate hair into 1 to 1 1/2" sections and curl with a  1" barrel iron.  Hold the iron vertically and wrap around the outside of the iron.  Hold for a few seconds and then release.   Repeat this process with all sections of hair.

10.  Lightly brush out curls with fingers or a paddle style brush.

11.  Direct all of the hair up and off the face and pulled back into a ponytail with a base centered halfway between the top of the crown and the base of the head (the nape).

12.  Use fingers to arrange the loose waves or brush lightly with a boar bristle brush.

13.  Finish the look with shine enhancing hair spray for all-day hold.  Or apply 1-2 drops of shine serum into the palms of your hands, massage together and then finger pick through strands or swipe over the top of your tresses.
