Thomas Jane Admits To Gay Hooker Past

Thomas Jane (born Thomas Elliott III; February 22, 1969) is an American actor, known for his roles in the 1999 film Deep Blue Sea, 2001 TV film 61*, 2004 film The Punisher, and 2007 Stephen King adaptation The Mist.

He currently stars in the HBO comedy-drama series Hung and plays Ray Drecker, a full time high school teacher and coach as well as a part time gigolo. Season 3 of Hung returned Sunday night (10/2/11).

As Season 3 opens, Ray's pimp, Tanya (Jane Adams), tries to manage his career through an inspired new business model, she runs into some major competition from fiery Lenore (Rebecca Creskoff), who is back and running her own trade with a younger man - Jason (Stephen Amell).

Of course there is also the complication that Ray, at least in Seasons 1 and 2, was mourning the loss of his wife Jessica (Anne Heche).

Ray believed Jessica was his one true love.  He also was dealing with his two teen-aged kids and trying to be a good divorced father - whatever that is.

Homeless Gay Teen-aged Pimp

Although Hung is about Jane playing a high priced male hooker who only services women, he knows something about being a prostitute in real life.

He revealed to the L.A. Times over the weekend that he used to turn same-sex tricks himself when he moved to Los Angeles as a teenager.

The actor said that when he was attempting to break into the industry as an 18 year old, he would regularly hook himself out to men to help pay his bills.

"As James Dean said, you're going to have one arm tied behind your back if you don't accept people's sexual flavors. When I was a kid out here in L.A., I was homeless. I didn't have any money and I was living in my car. I wasn't averse to going down to Santa Monica Boulevard and letting a guy buy me a sandwich. Know what I mean?"

He said "You're a lot more open to experimentation as a young man. And for me, being a young artist and broke in Los Angeles, I was exploring my sexual identity. Until you've tasted the food, you don't know whether you'll like it or not, as my mom always said."
