The actress, musical prodigy and hair goddess has been on my radar since 2002 when she co-starred in Crossroads with Britney Spears.

I became a fan of Taryn Manning's Hair in 2004 when Taryn, and her Yorkshire Terrier, Speakers, were spotted by Us Magazine getting hair extensions at the Vered Hair Salon in Los Angeles.

When celebrity hairstylist Janine Jarman, founder of West Hollywood's Hairroin Salon told me Taryn was one of her hair clients, I was completely obsessed.

Taryn Manning's hair history is as fascinating as her choice of film and TV roles over the past 15 years.

As the intensely devout and intolerant prison inmate, Tiffany "Pennsatucky" Doggett on the hit Netflix series, Orange Is The New Black (OITNB), the 35 year old actress has long mousy brown hair.

Taryn's character is one of the series' favorites, but the veteran actress says she is nothing like the woman that she portrays.

Neither is her off-screen hair. On June 23rd the petite actress appeared at Logo TV's "Trailblazers" Pride Event & Telecast sporting magnificently {{asin=B0088YVEWI,text=white blonde}} tresses with a long side-swept fringe.

All of the edges were tucked and pinned. Taryn wore an edgy black strapless Rita Vinieris short dress which allowed her to show off her stunning owl tattoo.

Pennsatucky Doggett's Hair - Nothing Like Taryn Manning's Hair

Taryn has admitted her popular turn as psychopathic devout Christian Tiffany 'Pennsatucky' Doggett was "difficult to prepare for, though she ended up relying on instinct."

Why?  Because the character is "ever changing".

Taryn Manning's Hair On Hollywood Game Night

In early 2014 Taryn appeared on NBC's Hollywood Game Night with Kaley Cuoco and Donald Faison.

Her long lush hair was a beautiful shade of soft milk chocolate with hints of cherry. Her hair was worn with an off-center part with no fringe of any kind. She added a pop of color to her short black outfit with stunning red heels.

The brunette hair gave Taryn a completely different look than the {{asin=B002GELXJK,text=white blonde hues}} she showcased at the end of June.

Taryn Manning's Hair On Hawaii Five-O

The multi-talented actress had a recurring role (2010-2013) on the CBS series, Hawaii Five-O as Mary Ann McGarrett, younger sister of Steve McGarrette (Alex O'Loughlin).

Every time Taryn appeared as Mary Ann her hair was a completely different hue, length and style.

It was fascinating to watch her transition from a white blonde fringed long bob (LOB) in 2010 to the dark auburn no fringe hairstyle she wore in November of 2013.

Her constant rotation through a variety of hair colors, lengths, parts and fringes is fascinating. It also gives the actress a completely different look and feel.

Taryn Manning's Disheveled Prison Hair

The actress told the American edition of OK! magazine she's in hair and make-up for her role as Pennsatucky for "fifteen minutes."

On Hollywood that's some sort of record. Taryn explained that Pennsatucky is known for having bad skin, horribly decayed teeth and dishevelled hair.

She told the media "the more disheveled I show up, the better. If I have a pimple, they don't even cover it up. My rotten teeth are painted on and that's about it. I tried to sneak mascara one time and I got caught."

Taryn explained she has no problem with her appearance because it means she doesn't have to make much effort before she turns up to work.

Taryn's turn as Pennsatucky has won her lots of attention for her acting talents.

"There's so much excitement on set," Manning told Us about OITNB's positive reception. "I don't think anyone can fathom that a show is going to be a hit when you're filming the first season."

She continued " I never know whether what I'm doing is going to be seen by two people or a million people. We're all so tripped out right now."

Recently The Hollywood Reporter announced the blonde tressed actress had joined the cast of Michael Almereyda's film, Experimenter.

The Indie drama is about famed social psychologist Stanley Milgram.

The Orange Is the New Black actress plays Mrs. Lowe, a test subject who is distressed by the controversial Obedience Experiments held at Yale University in 1961 by Milgram and pushes back.

The Obedience Experiments observed the responses of ordinary people who believe they were sending harmful electrical shocks to an affable stranger.
