Over the weekend my original Hairboutique.com PC I personally have been using since 1997 crashed.
The boot disk failed taking out many of my random long hair postings I had stored in various folders.
After crying at the loss of the PC which was backed up as much as possible, I had an epiphany.
I decided to start posting some of my favorite hair related notes, ramblings, tips and scoops in case the backed up drives now stored on my cloud get damaged in any way.
The Virtualization Of HairBoutique.com
Even though HairBoutique.com has been moving towards being 100% virtual since the end of 2013, I still have to wrangle with an array of remaining PCs we are still continuing to move to the Cloud. Thus explains the 1997 PC incident.
While I was metaphorically digging through the ashes of my fried 1997 computer to recover any remaining notes, I found a fabulous long hair email thread dating back to 2000.
One of the original HairTalk members started sending me his random thoughts about growing and maintaining long hair at that point.
During the years which followed, my long haired friend, Mr. Rapunzel and I have emailed routinely about a dizzying array of various long hair issues which never made it to the light of day.
During those years as we corresponded about hair some of our beloved long hair sites closed down, lost their amazing historic postings due to crashes or died from general lack of attention.
Crystal Gayle, Cousin Itt And Long Hair Opinions
One of our past long hair email threads was specifically focused on Crystal Gaye and her famous ankle length hair.
During our email discussion of Crystal Gayle's long hair we discussed some key long hair points listed below.
Does Long Hair Drag Down Facial Features? Many hair, beauty and fashion experts claim the longer your hair is, the more important it becomes to have subtle shaping, layering and definition carved into the hair to avoid the massive amount of hair dragging down the facial features.
Experts argue long hair wearers don't have to adopt a mullet or even a fringe, but need to make sure the hair flows into a beautiful shape which flatters your face and current age.
Mr. Rapunzel and I discussed this issue at length. We were both perplexed. How can long hair drag down someone's face? What does that really mean?"
We both wondered "Does a long hair wearer automatically sprout 5 pound weights around the perimeter of their tresses?
As Mr. Rapunzel noted, the notion of long hair dragging down one's face seems to "unfairly blame the hair".
He noted having long hair also shouldn't be blamed "for a person's (unavoidable!) chronological aging."
Mr. Rapunzel ended his thoughts about this topic by humorously noting "and I don't think my eyes are 'broken'".
Does Long Hair Add Weight To The Body?
Other long hair experts claim longer hair can actually add weight to a body, not hide unwanted pounds.
Mr. Rapunzel vigorously argued this point. He questioned this comment by asking if "longer hair can actually make a person appear to be heavier?"
His response? "If so, I actually believe the opposite is true."
I agreed with him. Long hair can actually shave off unwanted pounds and when worn exceptionally long like the tresses of Crystal Gayle, can actually enhance body curves.
Does Long Hair Make A Person Look Like Cousin Itt?
There have been recorded examples of long hair haters referring to those with long hair as Cousin Itts.
Cousin Itt Adams is the famous Addams cousin of Gomez Addams.
Cousin Itt is a short being whose entire body is shrouded by long hair.
When Gomez asks Cousin Itt what is underneath all the hair, Cousin Itt replies, "Roots" ("The Winning of Morticia Addams").
His hair color changed throughout the years, but in the 1998 New Addams Family TV series his hair color was blond. He usually wears sunglasses, a derby hat, and gloves.
Cousin Itt speaks in a high-pitched (with a slight British accent) gibberish language which the other members of the family can understand though it is incomprehensible to anyone else.
Being Referred To As Cousin Itt Is Not A Compliment
Mr. Rapunzel had quite a bit to say about long hair haters using a reference to Cousin Itt Adams as a hair insult.
The wise Mr. Rapunzel said "I would actually take that as a sign that the person leveling the accusation has
unresolved personality issues. Seriously."He continued "they(the long hair haters) are welcome to possess their opinion ,but if I don't solicit it, I don't want to hear it. And even if they did, I don't give a flying fig if any "someone" refers to me as Cousin Itt."
Summarizing his position on the Cousin Itt issue he said "I don't base my happiness on the (possible) criticisms of others regarding my attractiveness."
Summary - Random Long Hair Postings
Recently I suffered a catastrophic boot disk error on my original HairBoutique.com PC from 1997.
