I've learned everything I know about finding the best haircut from Robert who has been my go-to hair guru for 10+ years.

Robert recommended that anyone always start with a haircut which works best for your hair type, texture, length, current condition and lifestyle.

1.  The Shag - Best for hair when you're stuck in a rut - Try a chin or shoulder length shag, with or without a fringe.

This hairstyle looks great on every type and texture of hair.  It's low maintenance It can be air dried, finger tousled or touched up with a hot iron.

2.  Baby Fine Layers - Go with a chin length crop. This universal cut provides instant oomph for baby fine hair.

Ask for long bangs with wispy layers with some light feathering down through the nape of the neck.  Opt for a side-swept fringe to provide balance.

3.  Tightly Textured Curls - Opt for a chin length cut with layers from eyebrows to the chin.  This will help prevent the dreaded pyramid look.

Play up ringlets and avoid frizzy pouf.   Twist and pull individual tendrils post-shower.

4.  Long Straight Hair - Add dimension to a shoulder-length or longer hairstyle by having layers carved around the face.

Blow dry with a round brush. Add a side-swept or expertly trimmed fringe to add definition.

5.  Long, Thin/Fine, Naturally Textured - Go for long layers throughout the entire head to allow natural texture to spring up and form along natural curl pattern lines.

Avoid a fringe, unless expertly cut from chin level or longer to prevent bang shrinkage.

6.  Long Layered Bob - LOB - A great cut for naturally wavy hair is the long layered bob also known as The LOB.  This haircut works great with a wide range of fringes ranging from a center to side-swept fringe scissored to flow into the sides.

7. Chin To Shoulder Length Layers - Keep fizzy and pouf infused strands incheck with chin-to-shoulder length layers.  Run styling cream through damp hair to block frizz.

8.  Stick Straight Chop - Short, side-swept layers give you volume and instant glam.  To achieve a shattered look, rub in styling cream, paste or wax to tousle and style.

9.  Best For Long, Slightly Wavy Hair - Ask for a haircut with layers scissored below your jaw line.    This will help to coax out natural texture while adding instant shape to the profile of your haircut.

10.  Blunt Bob Best For Damaged Hair - Try a short, chin length or shoulder length blunt bob.  All one length hair looks shinier while eliminating damaged ends.  For a flirty look, tousle or flip up the edges.

11.  Best for Super Straight Hair - A face-framing short, chin length or shoulder length bob will keep your hair looking glam.

Skip this haircut if you've got a round face since it will make it rounder.

12.  Best For Thick Straight Hair - Try chin-length layers on medium to long hair, with slightly razored edges. If you have a strong jaw, sleek side swept bangs will balance the cut.

13.  Best for Just Hangs There Hair - To add instant glam and style, opt for layers.

They make all the difference.  For an extra chic touch, twirl sections with a curling iron.
