Whenever I think about Amy Poehler, I remember her stunning star turn as Leslie Knope on NBC's Parks And Recreation.
The adorable, usually blonde comedian (she's experimented with different hair colors over the years) is mega-talented and has won multiple awards.
A Celebrated Weekend Anchor
In addition to her celebrated time in front of the camera as one half of The Weekend Anchor on "Saturday Night Live" (SNL), Parks, and films, she's had a wildly successful career in entertainment's backfield.
In addition to her stand-up act, Poehler has had major industry success as a writer, director, and executive producer.
She developed a cult following during her tenure as executive producer of Comedy Central's "Broad City."
Poehler has spoken out about her love of collaborating on various projects with other SNL female comedians, whenever she has the opportunity. Poehler and Fey have been friends and collaborators for over 30 years.
The two comedians have worked together on numerous movies, including 2004's Mean Girls, 2015's Sisters, and my favorite, 2008's Baby Mama.
In the Baby Mama film, Poehler is the hilarious surrogate for Fey's character. It's one of my go-to movies when I need a good laugh.
On January 14, 2024, on The Today Show, she said, “We (Poehler and I) really have such an ease and shorthand working together.”
Amy Poehler Is Tina Fay's Work Wife
Fey explained, "It was a chemistry that developed over time."
She realized "Their unique rhythm while hosting the Golden Globe Awards."
The two hosted the ceremony for three years, from 2013 to 2015 and again in 2021. Fey refers to Poehler as "Her work wife."
Besides her brilliant comedic turns, I love how Poehler consistently showcases picture-perfect hairstyles.
Of course, she has access to an array of industry hairstylists, makeup artists, and fashion stylists, but she has a keen eye for what looks great on her face shape.
Although she's worn several iterations of classically coiffed bobs for years, they suit her well and show off her beautiful skin, eyes, and face.
Even though she's tried on different hair colors, most notably red, she also tends to stick to a bright buttery blonde, which is a great selection.
Amy's hair is typically styled to allow flexibility in her hectic lifestyle. Her white gold below-the-chin tresses cascade from a deep center part with a hint of texturized ends around the edges.
Her stunning hairstyle features a hint of volume throughout the top and the crown, with barely-there waves throughout the ends.
Poehler, 52, and her former SNL partner, Tina Fey, 53, made a surprise appearance during the 75th annual Primetime Emmy Awards on Monday, January 15, 2024.
They appeared seated at a replica of the iconic Saturday Night Live desk to present Outstanding Live Variety Special to Elton John.
Poehler looked stunning in a deep wine-hued sequined Roland Mouret dress on the Emmy Red Carpet. Celebrity hairstylist Clariss Rubenstein was inspired to coiff Poehler's hair into a super elegant, classic French bob. She showcased her work on Instagram.
Rubenstein told the media and posted about styling Poehler's hair on her Instagram page. She notes, "I wanted to go super clean and classic with her hair.”
Poehler's perfect chin-length bob was tucked behind her ears, adding instant sophistication.
The celebrity hairstylists added, “There’s nothing chicer than a sleek French bob."Poehler's signature white gold hair appears extremely healthy and conditioned. It always has a lush shine. Her tresses have natural movement and flow.
The comedian's current hairstyle can be worn down in tousled waves or pulled up in beautiful chignons for more formal events.
The queen of comic drama looks great with her hair up or down.
Start with a chin-length bob or lob hairstyle, using precision-cut layers to add movement throughout the interior of the hairstyle.
If you want to change the length instantly, try temporary clip-in extensions. They can take strands that are too short for shoulder length.
1. Cleanse hair with your favorite washing methods (Shampoo, Diluted Shampoo, Conditioner Only, or Water Only) in lukewarm water.
2. Rinse well and apply rinse-out conditioner. Detangle in the shower with a wide, tooth-smooth comb. Work from the ends up to the top.
When you've detangled from the roots to the ends, finish with a cool/cold water rinse.
3. Towel blot. Apply the desired leave-in styling/conditioning cocktail according to the type, texture, and length of your current hair.
Distribute evenly through the hair with fingers or a smooth-toothed comb.
4. Create the desired part before separating the hair into two-inch sections. Although Tina primarily favors a center
5. Use a vent-style brush for lots of lush volume. Lift each section at the root and direct air from a blow dryer with a concentrator up the hair shaft from ends to roots.
6. When hair is completely dry, separate it into one-inch sections.
Use a wide iron to curl sections of hair from mid-shaft to the ends. Roll each section away from the face. Hold for a few seconds, and then release.
Note: The smaller the curling iron and the size of the strand, the tighter the curls.
7. Take the newly curled strand and roll it around your finger. Pin it against the scalp to cool and set. Spritz with styling spray. Repeat around the head.
8. When hair is completely cool, unpin all the curls one at a time.
9. Bend over at the waist and lightly shake your head to loosen curls. Don't overdo it.
10. Lightly coat fingers with shine serum, spray, or cream. Run through strands to break up curls.
Optionally, lightly brush curls with a 100% boar's bristle brush to deconstruct and loosen.
11. For added volume at the crown, lightly backcomb and smooth.
12. Finish with a spritz of hairspray. Lightly spray the entire head.
Add a glam skinny headband or small sparkly hair clip to take Amy's hairstyle up a notch.
Poehler is currently (2024) on the road with Fey for their "Restless Leg" comedy tour and appears to be killing it.
Fey told The Today Show, “We’re just out and about. We’re just impregnating people everywhere we go.”Poehler continues to appear on various talk shows and has a podcast,
