The Secrets of Stopping Hair Loss by Stella. Weller I actually bought this book brand new in 1985 when it first came out. It was written and published in Great Britain and I have always enjoyed reading books about hair, health and beauty and New Age from there. This book was published by Thorsons and I have always found their books to be of good quality and worthwhile. If you have looked at my picture on this site you know that I do not have hair loss. Except that in 1985 I was having problems with losing more of my hair that normal. That is because I was on one of those liquid diet programs that were so popular in the 80s. I had no idea that changing my diet so drastically could cause you to have hair loss. This book answered a lot of my questions about proper hair nutrients, hair minerals and how food and nutrition impact the scalp and as a result, the growth of healthy hair. This 143 page book has lots of great information. I am only sorry that it is currently out of print. In some cases Amazon.com does a great job of finding out of print books. You may want to get on their "hard to find" book list and they might eventually scrounge one up for you. I have enjoyed this book off and on for years because it such good basic information about hair loss and preventing it. The very first chapter of the book talks about all the different types of hair loss from adnata which is congenital baldness or baldness at birth to premature baldness which is early or premature baldness. The book also talks about what causes the general loss of hair. What is most fascinating is that the author of this book believes in using natural products such as herbs to counteract hair loss. She talks about how herbs can be used as a natural anti-dandruff remedy and recommends Burdoc, Nettle, Rosemary, Sage, Willow, and Yarrow. She also tells you everything you could ever want to know about your scalp. This is a great little book. I just have to recommend it even though it is no longer in print.
