The Everyman's Guide to Hair Replacement

The Everyman's Guide to Hair Replacement

by Richard W Fleming, Toby G. Mayer

This book is written by two doctors who claim to have a lot of hands-on experience in the hair replacement game. Dr. Richard Fleming and Dr. Toby Mayer are considered to be two of the world's leading authorities on hair loss and hair replacement.

Dr. Fleming and Dr. Mayer claim to have written the comprehensive guide to hair replacement for balding men. Claiming 18 years of experience treating thousands of patients for hair loss, including many movie stars and sports celebrities, the doctors guide you through the maze of misinformation and provide everything you need to know to made educated decisions about your own hair loss.

Among the topics that are discussed in this book are:

  • Flap surgery - a revolutionary surgical technique for hair loss.
  • The latest medical advances - scalp reductions, tissue expansion, micrografts, minigrafts.
  • Hairpieces - selecting an attractive, natural-looking unit.
  • Hair transplants - how to avoid getting "corn-rows".
  • Medicines and scalp treatments - should you try them or trash them?
  • How to spot deceptive advertising claims.
  • How to camouflage thinning hair with proper styling.
  • How to avoid styles that actually accentuate your hair loss.

Obviously I am not a man that is concerned about hair loss. But if I was.... I would buy this book.

The advice that Fleming and Mayer provide is very interesting and informative. They provide styles and methods to avoid emphasizing your balding with your existing hair. They strongly recommend against combing your hair in a direction opposite from the one in which it lies naturally. Thus if your partline or other sections of your hair will lie only in one direction, modify your hairstyle to correspond with the way the hair is growing. Otherwise it may be hard to manage and will look unnatural.

In addition, certain styles seem to call attention to a balding condition rather than masking it. The doctors point out the negative effect of exceptionally long or bulky side hair. A variation allowing your sideburns to grow down to your jawline will also emphasize baldness.

In other words, it is usually better to live with baldness, or to seek another method of covering or replacing it, rather than adopting desperate measures that are very obvious to most people.

This is a really great book that will answer all of your questions about hair replacement techniques. It will also give you new techniques to hide your baldness and to look as good as possible during your balding process.

I was very impressed with this book. It is hard to find in most bookstores. I know...I looked at 6 different stores before I found it.

I strongly recommend this book for any man dealing with baldness in any form.

Enjoy!!!
