Term: Forensic Hair Analysis

When studying hair, involved in a crime scene, it has been determined that human hair from the areas of the head, pubic regions and facial hair provide the best microscopic information. Hair from the armpits, chest and limbs do not provide solid microsopic information. Not all hair can be utilized for crime scene or death inquiry analysis. Hair that is too light in color, has sustained excessive chemical damage (from perms, straighteners, bleach, color) too short in length or has been abused by excessive styling may not be suitable for analysis or comparison purposes.

Daily Hair Tip
When towel drying wet hair never rub hair roughly or twist up into a towel. This will potentially damage delicate hair cuticles. Instead carefully blot hair with superabsortant towel and squeeze hair gently to remove moisture.
