Term: Root Perm

A type of spot perm where perming chemicals are only applied to the roots of the hair. Root perms are applied to new hair growth where an existing perm has grown out. In some cases root perms are applied to provide extra volume or lift to the hair. For the majority root perms are used to perm new growth without adding perming chemicals on top of an existing perm.

Daily Hair Tip
To combat cowlicks apply pomade or setting gel to the spot & blow dry w/ nozzle aimed downwards. Longer hair helps weigh down cowlicks as will tiny barrettes or clips. Pulling hair into a ponytail or braids will tighten down the cowlick. Experiment until you get results.
