Term: Threading Hair

A basic way of creating unique and signature African hairstyles. Hair threading generally requires (ideally) a 4 or 5 pronged wood comb, hair grease (pomade or oil), a razor blade and/or a pair of sharp hair scissors.

Hair threading also requires spools of cotton and/or man-made thread in the desired color.

Depending upon the hairstyle created, the thread may match the natural hair color or contrast with it. Hair is threaded by separating and wrapping individual hair sections to form signature hairstyles. Ideally hair is medium to long in length for the most versatile threading option.

Daily Hair Tip
Give short hair tousled looks by scrunching or running fingers through wet hair as it air dries. Use blowdryer on low setting for faster results.
