A famous heir to the Wella German hair care fortune, Olbricht was mentioned in the July 26, 2002 issue of the Wall Street Journal for selling his 2 bedroom 2 1/2 bath apartment on the 42nd floor of New York's Trump Palace for approximately $2 Million dollars.
Olbricht bought the pied-a-terre in the late 1990s. He brought in Florida's Steven M. Hefner for a dramatic redesign. Hefner told the WSJ "I basically gutted it and refurbished it for nightime drama and sparkle"
The apartment has night time views of The East River, the Empire State Building and the Chrysler Building.
Mr. Olbricht decided to sell the spectacular 1,400 square foot flat because he was spending much of his time traveling from his homes in Europe and Florida while pursuing one of his biggest interests which is hunting large game.
Bernd is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Eric Olbricht. Mrs. Olbricht's grandfather founded Wella in 1880. Bernd has a sister, Claudia and a brother, Thomas.
When asked if the two sons would join the family business, Eric Olbricht told The Sydney Morning Herald "my sons will probably come into the company, but first they must learn. They must learn to compete on the open market and like everyone else they must work their way up."
