Term: Long Hair Super Moisture Treatment (SMT)

One of the most popular super Moisture Treatments (SMT) on the Internet, starting
with the origins of Hairboutique.com's Hair Talk in the mid-1990s in the original Long Hair forums, was moisturizing treatments

Many different recipes and formulas were created based on historical recipes used for centuries and brought forward to the mid-1990s.

Super Moisture Treatment (SMT)
Use your favorite products or products that you have a good history with.

Formula Ingredients

4 tablespoons of conditioner* (avoid high protein or products with silicone or "cones")
1 tablespoon of honey (test a little first to make sure it is not overly sticky)
1 tablespoon clear (not blue or green) aloe gel (preferably free of any alcohol)
Stick to the formula.  If you use too much aloe vera, it may form a hard film on your hair

Mix all ingredients with a wooden spoon

Note: If you have very long hair or thick strands, you can double or even triple the formula. If honey leaves your hair frizzy, try using aloe gel mixed with conditioner.

Mix in a heat-safe bowl or container with a wooden spoon. Heat in an oven, a double boiler on the stove, or in a microwave. Heat the formula until it's warm but not too hot to touch. Be careful not to burn your fingertips. If you heat it in a microwave, it might only take 10-15 seconds.
Once again, mix the ingredients with a wooden spoon.

Use your fingertips to apply the warm formula to newly washed, towel-blotted, and damp hair.
Or you can apply it to bone hair

Apply where your hair needs the most moisture, from the mid-lengths to the ends. This is a very moisturizing treatment, so use it sparingly.  If you wish, you can apply it to the entire head from the scalp down.
Where you apply the treatment depends on your hair type, texture, and length.

Once you've applied the treatment, cover your hair with a plastic shower cap, plastic food wrap, or similar. Allow the treatment to remain on your hair for at least 30 minutes, but you can leave it on overnight if you prefer. If you decide to sleep on the treatment, protect your bedclothes

Note: If you don't cover with a shower cap or plastic and the formula dries on your hair, it can be hard to rinse out. If that happens, soak your hair in a bowl or in the bathtub containing only plain warm water for about 20 minutes. A Conditioner-Only (CO) wash can help loosen the hair and remove the formula

Wrap hair in warm towels or remove the shower cap and sit under a warm hair dryer for added moisturizing results.
When removing the treatment, rinse it with clear, lukewarm water, but do not use shampoo or cleanser. It's optional, but it's best to use a rinse-out conditioner. Carefully squeeze excess moisture from hair, towel blot, and apply an optional leave-in conditioner. Air dry or dry with a blow dryer on the slowest, coolest setting bent over at the waist.

*Some conditioners are known to work better than others in this recipe.  Some conditioners may clump or form lumps

Not all conditioners work equally well, so you may need to experiment. If you are unsure, start slow and apply the formula to a small section of your hair to ensure you can easily remove it

Conditioners (avoid products with cones if possible) known to work well in the SMT formula include, but are not limited to the brands (some may no longer be available on the market)

Daily Hair Tip
Split ends are a separation of the hair shaft that exposes hair's fragile inner layers. The only real cure for split ends is to have them trimmed.
