With the many advances made in human hair extensions, clip-in extensions and add-on hair pieces, celebrities, both men and women often showcase faux hairstyles on the Red Carpet as well as on the small and big screens.
With the current craze towards long luscious tresses, many big name celebs are rocking long lush strands with the help of their various celeb hairdressers and a variety of add-on hair pieces.
This long hair trend was noticeable in the world of TV's SciFi for 2008-2009.

Listed below are some of the very best hottest female celebrities to grace various SciFi shows with long lush strands:
1. Eliza Dushku - Fox/TV - Echo on Dollhouse
Even if you don't like her acting, you have to agree that Eliza Duschku has gorgeous long brunette tresses. During her most recent SciFi reign on Fox/TV's Dollhouse she worn her below-the-shoulder caramel kissed milk chocolate tresses sleek and very shiny.

In one particularly fetching scene Eliza appeared in "A Spy in the House of Love" with her natural long brunette tresses enhanced with what appeared to be human hair extensions.
The crown was wrapped into a sensual ponybun with Eliza's long tresses flowing down towards the middle of the back. It didn't hurt that the stunner was wearing a very revealing leather outfit which showcased her hair even more spectacularly.
2. Dichen Lachman - Fox/TV - Sierra on Dollhouse
Dichen Lachman was the exotic blonde "doll" as compared to Eliza's Echo. The beautiful Dichen often worn her cookies and cream exotic locks long and loosely curled or waved below her shoulders.

The only bad news about Dichen as Sierra was that she didn't have more screen time to show off her sleek shiny strands.
3. Summer Glau - Fox/TV - Cameron on Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles
Summer Glau is sizzling hot in every aspect from her acting career to her gorgeous sleek long brunette tresses.
Although her role as the sensual female terminator Cameron on Fox TV's Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles is now officially cancelled, don't expect Summer to wander far from the world of hot SciFi chick.

The rumor is abuzz with the speculation that Summer will pop up on her former mentor's Dollhouse show. Yes, Josh Whedon has admitted he is toying with the idea of adding Summer into his own Fox show. Afterall, why not keep her in the family?
Dollhouse managed to survive the series chopping block to live another day. With the beautiful Summer in the new mix the show might actually survive for more than one more season.
4. Lena Headey - Fox/TV - Sarah Connor on Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles
Lena Headey played Sarah Connor, the mother to John and the strong lady fighting terminators while trying to co-exist with Cameron (Summer Glau) and keep her son out of trouble which could have long ranging consequences to the human race.
Quite a bit to handle which probably explained why her hair never looked like she had spent hours coiffing it. Regardless, Lena as Sarah wore her hair below her shoulders for the majority of the two Sarah Connor seasons.

Sometimes I had a hard time determining if Lena as Sarah had her hair pulled back or had gotten it cut. Most of the time it did extend below her shoulders and sometimes it looked like it was much longer than others.
Overall I would say that Lena had long hair which was worn layered throughout the crown and around the hairline. Her hair was a rich chestnut brown with hints of copper highlights. Of course as the mother figure you wouldn't expect to have the same sizzling hot hair as Cameron or some of the other SciFi females in the cast but she always looked beautiful, even after fighting terminators and being covered in dirt, grime and blood.
5. Shirley Manson - Fox/TV - as Catherine Weaver on Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles
Shirley Manson is the famous voice behind the successful rock group of Garbage. She easily made the transition to SciFi babe with gorgeous long light orange/red tresses.

Although she wore her hair down as well as half up/half down, it was always clear that Shirley had beautiful long lush strands.
Playing a terminator in disguise as a successful business woman and mother, Shirley as Catherine Weaver was one ice queen to behold.
Her hair was always perfectly coiffed as you would expect a terminator babe to be. I love Shirley in the role because she was scary in the role and you never knew when her true power as a female machine would explode onto the scene. She was fascinating and I hope she continues to win acting roles to showcase her talents.
6. Anna Torv - Fox/TV - as Olivia Dunham on Fringe
She's blonde, beautiful and a newcomer with long, lush tresses she mostly wears bone straight and below her shoulders.
In some regards I felt the powers behind the scenes on Fox/TV's Fringe wanted to downplay Anna's beauty to avoid detracting from the scary spooky aspects of the show.
(Image of Anna Torv as Olivia Dunhamon Fox/TV's Fringe - photographed by George Holz for FOX. ©2008 Fox Broadcasting Co.- All Rights Reserved).
I am a huge fan of all the shows I have covered to this point but I loved Fringe for its ability to combine scary plots with interesting characters. Don't you just love Walter? Anna Torv was excellent as Olivia but her long blonde tresses were definitely underplayed in favor of the plotlines.
Hopefully when the show returns in the Fall of 2009 the beautiful blonde will be able to flex more of her hair muscles.
7. Ali Larter - NBC/TV - as Niki Sanders/Jessica on Heroes
Whether Ali is playing the sweet Niki, a sufferer of Dissociative Identity Disorder or Jessica, her alter ego who is able to access Niki's superhuman strength, being able to literally rip others in half, Ali is rocking long platinum blonde tresses.

Both the characters of Niki and Jessica wear their blonde tresses long and sleek with minimal texture.
Probably a wise decision since when Niki's superhuman strength is rearing up the last thing she would want to worry about is how her hair looks.
8. Hayden Panettiere - NBC/TV - as Claire/The Cheerleader on Heroes
From the very beginning of her turn as Claire, Hayden has showcased her buttery blonde tresses which she wears in a variety of styles including long, lush and shimming down to the middle of her back.
(Image of Hayden Panettiere as Claire on Heroes -- NBC Photo: Chris Haston - All Rights Reserved).
In a sense, one of Claire's trademarks is her beautiful blonde tresses.
9. Honorable Mention - Kristen Bell - NBC/TV - as Elle (Deceased - Killed by Sylar (Zachary Quinto)
To be honest I don't really watch Heroes much anymore. I used to be a huge fan during the first season but then there were a few shark jumping moments and I lost interest. The other problem is that there are just so many great shows to watch and so little time.
When Kristen Bell joined the Heroes cast, before she was killed by Sylar, I was back in the Heroes saddle. I adore Kristen and have been a big fan since Veronica Mars.
When Kristen appeared on Heroes she completed the trio of blondes with superhuman powers. Unfortunately Kristen as Elle was a little too hot to handle with her silky long blonde mane and fell prey to the evil Sylar. She died and so did my interest in Heroes.

The good news? Kristen will be appearing in new films in the near future.
10. Sofia Vassilieva - NBC/TV - Ariel Dubois on Medium
Allison Dubois and her three daughters are all various shades of blonde ranging from oldest daughter Ariel's light butter blonde to middle daughter Bridgette's dark blonde to younger daughter Marie's medium golden blonde.
Although Patricia Arquette currently has blonde tresses which cascade to the top of her shoulders, in the past she has often worn her hair in a very flattering short to medium blonde.
Actress Sofia Vassilieva who plays oldest Dubois daughter Ariel has stunning below the waist tresses with lots of natural bend and movement. Her hair is spectacularly beautiful.
(Pictured: (l-r) Maria Lark as Bridgette DuBois, Patricia Arquette as Allison DuBois, Miranda Carabello as Marie DuBois, Jake Weber as Joe DuBois, Sofia Vassilieva as Ariel - NBC Photo: Frank Ockenfels - All Rights Reserved)
Although rumors were afloat that Sofia had to cut all of her hair off to play a cancer victim in her current movie - My Sister's Keeper - the gossip appears to have been false since Sofia showcased her long lush tresses all season on Medium where she is developing her own psychic talents along with those of her mother.
All of the Medium blondes in the Dubois Family will be leaving their NBC homebase and moving to a new network for the Fall 2009 season. It will be interesting to see how their hairstyles change (or not) in their new home.
11. Amanda Tapping - NBC/SciFi/TV - Dr. Helen Magnus on Sanctuary
Sanctuary is a hard core SciFi show which centers on Dr. Helen Magnus, played by Amanda Tapping as a 157-year-old English scientist, and her team of experts who run the Sanctuary, an organization that seeks out non-human intelligent creatures, known as Abnormals, and tries to help and learn from them, while also having to contain the more dangerous creatures.
(Image of Amanda Tapping - NBC.com - Sanctuary - NBC Photo: Chris Haston - All Rights Reserved).
Even though she is 157 years old, her hair is long, lush and rich light chocolate brown with hints of caramel interwoven throughout. I only hope my hair looks that long, lush and stunning when I'm 157 years old.
Of course Amanda Tapping is a long time favorite of the SciFi community having played some world class roles on the various Stargate series.
Although she was loved as a blonde on Stargate and Stargate Atlantis, the ratings for Sanctuary are very impressive and it has been renewed for a second series to be shown in the Fall of 2009.
12. Emilie Ullerup - NBC/SciFi/TV - Ashley Magnus (daughter of Dr. Magnus) on Sanctuary
Playing the brash and beautiful blonde daughter of Dr. Magnus, newcomer Emilie Ullerup is a sizzling SciFi babe helping her brilliant mother capture the Abnormals and bring them safely back to The Sancturary.

Adding complications to the plot is the fact that Ashley's father is some very unusual SciFi villian who happened to have a fling with the fascinating Dr. Magnus.
Although Emilie had limited screen time during the first season of Sanctuary here's hoping the sassy blonde gets some more plots when the new season starts in the Fall.
13. Marley Shelton - CBS - FBI Agent Rachel Young on Eleventh Hour
Playing Rachel Young, a by-the-book FBI agent assigned to handle a brilliant biophysicist and special science adviser to the government, Dr. Hood (Rufus Sewell), Marley Shelton had to deal with scary and aggressive deadly viruses and other diseases right out of SciFi movie.
(Image of Marley Shelton as Rachel Young on CBS Eleventh Hour - Photo: Sonja Flemming/CBS ©2008 CBS Broadcasting Inc. All Rights Reserved)
As the beautiful blonde FBI agent Marley looked hot with her buttery blonde long wavy tresses worn in a range of hairstyles from nape ponies to sleek and clean twists and updos.
Often dressed in FBI style suits, Marley's hair was styled to work with her high pressure job helping her charge investigate some very odd scientific happenings and crisis.
Sadly Eleventh Hour was canceled and will not be returning in the Fall of 2009. However, during her short reign on CBS Marley Shelton gave new meaning to hot FBI babe.
14. Rachel Luttrell - NBC/SciFi - Teyla Emmagan - Stargate Atlantis
Rachel Luttrell starred as Teyla, a beautiful alien warrior, who brought her calm, insightful leadership and formidable fighting skills to the Stargate Atlantis team.
With her rare ability to sense the Wraiths' presence, she added a further dimension to the battle against their prime enemy.
For those not in the know, the Wraiths were the #1 enemy of the Stargate Atlantis human since they would feed on human bodies, much like SciFi Vampires.
15. Tricia Helfer - Battlestar Galactica - Number Six - Caprica Six - etc.,
Number Six was a breath-taking human-like Cylon who managed to seduce Baltar into revealing information that allowed the Cylons to breach human defenses, resulting in the Cylon attacks that destroyed the Colonies.
Like all Cylons, Number Six was able to resurrect herself by downloading into a new version of her body. Several other copies of Number Six appeared throughout the series, including Caprica Six.
Although there is no question Tricia Helfer was sizzling hot with her white hot platinum blonde tresses and other admirable physical attributes, there were actually several other long haired SciFi Babes wandering around Battlestar Galactica.
Tricia's platinum blonde tresses ranged from brushes the top of her shoulders to flowing a little bit below her collor. Does Tricia really qualify as someone with long lush hair? It depends on your definition of long hair. There were times when Tricia did appear to have longer tresses than other times.

16. Grace Park - Battlestar Galactica - Sharon "Boomer" Valerii
Part of Battlestar Galactica's fleet, the stunning brunette beauty Sharon Valerii, played by Grace Park, was one of Adama's most trusted pilots - right up until the moment her Cylon programming kicked in and she shot him.
On Caprica, another version of Sharon has found love with fellow Galactica pilot Helo. The two were married and parented Hera, the first-ever human-Cylon hybrid child, whom Sharon was told died shortly after birth. Sharon, like Number Six, was sympathetic to humanity.
Grace Park's is no stranger to the SciFi film industry. She has played memorable roles on The Dead Zone and The Outer Limits, but it was her regular role on the hit Canadian series, Edgemont that finally gave Park the chance to really test her range and establish herself as a star on the rise.
Honorable Mentions
Some of the hot babes in the SciFi world either had hair that didn't quality for long and lush or it was even more borderline than Tricia Helfer.
The beautiful brunette Mary McDonnell who played the fiesty President Roslin on Battlestar Galacticak had long locks but some might disagree with the title of hot babe.
The same might be said for Patricia Arquette who is blonde, beautiful and lately has been sporting stick straight strands below her shoulders. A hot babe? Again, you be the judge.
Katee Sackhoff as Kara Trace, A.K.A. "Starbuck" was also a difficult call.
In her private life she loves wearing her blonde tresses long but for the majority of the time she was in character as Kara Trace her hair was short.
There was one season where her hair did manage to flow past her shoulders but when I think of Kara I think short hair.
I also did not include ongoing guest stars except in the case of Kristen Bell who is just so cute and one of my favs that I couldn't resist.
Finally, I considered adding some of the long tressed women from HBO's Vampire show and the latest show The Listener but was undecided if the women on either of those two shows were really SciFi babes or not. Yes, some are babes, but SciFi babes? Not sure.
Of course if you feel I missed a hot SciFi babe and wish to have me add them to the list please email me at [email protected] and I will keep an open mind.
