The letter from Art McMaster is below:
Dear Miss America Family,
October is already upon us and 2009 has become an exciting year for The Miss America Organization. Preparations are well under way for the crowning of Miss America 2010 at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas.
We have 53 fantastic contestants, and the 2010 Miss America Pageant promises to be another memorable event. Miss America 2009 Katie Stam is having a wonderful year and is "making a difference" by using her voice to promote the spirit of volunteerism and honoring our military.
As you know, first and foremost on our minds is raising scholarship funds to keep our historic organization thriving and continuing for the next generation.
Through your dedicated efforts and the support of our local, state and national programs, we will continue to be the largest scholarship provider for women in the world!
This year, the economic climate has touched so many and presented us all with unique challenges that impact our world.
We are not immune to the financial crisis that many companies are now facing, however, we are resilient and we continue to look to the future as we prepare for our 89th year in 2010!
By having a dedicated Board of Directors, a supportive national team and loyal friends and supporters like you, our beloved organization will continue to prosper into the future and continue to make dreams possible for young women across the country.
We hope that you are able to make a donation, no matter how small, and support the organization that has helped to shape all of our lives.
I sincerely hope that you share my desire to keep this dream alive for all of the young women in our program, so that they, too, may have the wonderful opportunities that have truly been a part of America's culture for generations.
