Wanda Sykes Dishes To Ellen About Her New Twin Babies

Funny lady Wanda Sykes was a guest on Ellen Degeneres this week.  She treated the audience to a sassy dance routine where she shook her booty before stopping and giving Ellen a hug.  Wanda is one of Ellen's favorite guests and often appears on Ellen's show.

Ellen seemed pleased with Wanda's booty shaking routine and joined in for a few steps.   Ellen told Wanda "that was exciting, I was following you and then I didn't know where to go."

Wanda, who was dressed in jeans and a milk chocolate long sleeved jacked with a better yellow top told Ellen "that was about it, that's all I have."

Ellen told Wanda she had never seen her dance "a lot before" and Wanda replied "I know" I go "in spurts, I give you a good 30 seconds and then you go 'man she can dance' and I'm like winded and go whoooo (catching her breath), I relax a bit, cool off and then jump back in."  She shook her head "crazy" and Ellen noted "that's the way to do it."

Wanda, who has her own talk show told Ellen "yeah, but you do have a great audience."  Wanda said "actually if I could borrow the stomach girl" referring to an audience member who did a back bend with her stomach up in the air, and the ladder guy, who also did a trick, if they could follow me home,  I've got some ceiling lights that need" changing."

Ellen teased Wanda about taking home one of the other audience members who played flutes with her nostrils and Wanda said "why not" take her home as well.

Ellen pointed out that Wanda had quite an eventful year last year.  Wanda agreed "I a little busy last year.  A lot of stuff happened last year."  Ellen said "lets name them all."  Wanda said "OK"

Wanda "well lets see, I got married."  Ellen "you got married, congratulations."  The audience went crazy with applause and Wanda smiled and shook her head in happiness.  Ellen asked "still happily married?"  Wanda said "still happily married."  Ellen said "you had babies."  Wanda agreed "babies."  Ellen said "twins"  Wanda agreed and said "they're eight months.  A boy and a girl, Lucas and Olivia.  They're just awesome.  I mean, I'm just so in love with these babies it's nuts. Yeah, of course I'm tired now.  You're just constantly tired."

Ellen "well especially with twins.  It's just gotta be."  Wanda "yeahhh.  And I'm telling you, it's, I find myself (her wife) asking each other silly stuff.  My wife and I.  Like, 'Baby do you have Lucas?' and I'm thinking if I have Olivia, she must have Lucas.  They boy's only eight months old.  It's not like he's out running to the store.  Then he went to get a pack of cigarettes and he'll be right back."

Ellen "but are they sleeping through the night?"  Wanda "they're sleeping through the night."  Ellen "you're lucky"  Wanda "thank god, yeah, yeah, very lucky but they get up at seven, they don't care.  Like for the Holidays people go 'are you rested from The Holidays' you go 'nooo'.  No, the babies don't know it's Christmas.  They don't know its a Holiday."

She continued "oohh yeah, let's sleep in."  She laughed and shook her head.

Ellen "and what did you do for Christmas.  Did you give them things to open.  Did you try to make them see it's Christmas?"  Wanda "we gave them wrapping paper.  We gave them one gift and a bunch of wrapping paper and took pictures to make it look like they had a lot of stuff and a tree.  I swear, I'm serious.  Why.  I'm not buying them a bunch of stuff, they're eight months old.  At least when they look back at the photos they'll be like 'man the moms were real good to us.'"

Ellen laughed and applauded and then pulled out a bag.  She told Wanda "I didn't wrap them or anything.  I didn't want to waste time.  We gave you some gifts for each of them."  Wanda was thrilled and said "awwwww"  Ellen continued "and you can they say 'my mommy's funnier than your mommy.'

Wanda thanked Ellen who then asked "what did you do for the Holidays?  Where did you go?"  Wanda "we went back East.  Went back East to Pennsylvania.  And yeah, so very cold.  So of course I had to put the babies in the little snow suits and they did not appreciate that."

Ellen "that's cute though."  Wanda "it's very cute, but it's torture, you know, and I come downstairs and they're just sitting on the floor like this (and she demonstrated the babies sitting with their arms stretched out and their eyes going wild) and I just looked at them and their eyes looked at me like 'look what momma did, get her.  I don't know what's gonna happen next. Get her, she's crazy, look at us." Wanda burst out laughing.

Ellen said "it' some trick because they really can't move."  Wanda explained that since her wife is French she is "mamma" and Wanda is "mommy or whatever."  Ellen "they're not talking yet?"  Wanda "not yet."

Ellen "did you spend time with your wife's family?  Are they French?  All of them?"

Wanda "yeah, they're French and they have a French contingency there, back in Pennsylvania, so we had to go over there for dinner and they were all like, visiting from France and like real French."

Ellen "real French"  Wanda "yeah, so my French is not that great so I just listen for 'noir' so when I hear noir" I look around (she made a hilarious face as she turned her head around)."

She continued "anything noir, I'm listening up.  Is it something bad, something negative, I want to know, I'm on top of that. But they're very friendly and real cool but my French, you know, I'm not good, I don't speak so I just kept food in my mouth, you know.  If they asked me something (she demonstrated mumbling and shoveling more food into her mouth)."

Ellen "that sounds French right there."  Wanda "yeah, I just know how to ask for another drink."  Wanda demonstrated asking for another drink and holding her hands up to her mouth like she was drinking.

Ellen and Wanda also briefly discussed Wanda's new talk show on Fox.  As far as what Wanda talks about she told Ellen the only subject she sees as "off limits" on her show is "Oprah".  She told Ellen "I don't mess with Oprah, Oprah could buy me!"  She is willing to talk about President Obama though.  She believes he's fair game.
