Michael C. Hall, 38, had plenty to celebrate Saturday at the 2010 SAG awards.
Not only did he win for his SAG category which was Male Actor in a Drama Series, it was his first SAG. It was mentioned that although he had been honored for his work in "Six Feet Under" he had never won the SAG before.
Michael received his award which was presented to him by Jenna Fisher and Benjamin Bratt, he expressed his thanks to his wife and his mother and later expressed his gratitude for his remission from cancer.
When his name was called Michael, the very private actor, first leaned over and kissed his wife, actress Jennifer Carpenter, who plays Dexter Morgan's sister Deb Morgan, on Showtime's "Dexter".
Michael and Jennifer were sitting at a table with many of the Dexter cast members and Julie Benz who played Dexter's wife was close by. The cameras flashed on her after Michael's win. Sadly Julie's character was killed off at the end of last season. Luckily for all of us the hit series has been picked up by Showtime and will return for another run.
In his acceptance speech for his firs SAG Michael started by saying "thank you so much to our union for this recognition. Thank you to our writers for their plate spinning ability and audacity. And thank you as well to our crew who has as much to do with our cohesiveness that we manage to maintain on this show as anyone. And finally again to my cast mates, thank you for your professionalism and your talent and for your willingness to endure all those awkward pauses while Dexter thinks his voice over. Thank you to my wife Jennifer. Thank you for wearing that dress. And thank you to my mom for keeping all the most important doors open for me. Thank you."
Just a week ago Michael, who was wearing the trendy peach fuzz on his face, won a Golden Globe for his beloved serial killer. He told PEOPLE backstage, his cancer is in remission.
"I'm two-thirds of the way through this treatment that already has this thing in remission," he said. "It's nice in the homestretch to have this kind of shock of positive energy. It's a celebration."
The actor initially said he revealed he was being treated for Hodgkin's lymphoma, because he knew he would be making several public appearances. "Because award shows were imminent, I had to make a statement," he said at last week's Globes.
He assured the media "I've been feeling very well," and "because I made this announcement. He also said "Because of these public events, I've heard from people I would have not have heard from otherwise."
