My mom used to deploy this trick on the yellowed stains of the men in my family. It worked especially well on t-shirts and white work shirts.

In fact, she used to pre-soak for yellow stains but after trying the aspirin trick she liked its results better. Of course you can always turn to the old spray stain remover standby.
However, you might be surprised at the results you get.
Throw all your yellow stained tees in washer at any temperature you prefer. Yes, you can use hot water, but if you prefer medium or cool, it works under those settings as well.
Add your normal detergent. When the washing machine has completely filled with water, add one aspirin. Not an aspirin substitute. The old fashioned white aspirin. Let the regular cycle finish and dry like normal. You should see a definite improvement in the whiteness factor. The yellow should be removed either completely or at least partially.
Even if you decide to just wear the tees around the house, they will look brighter and whiter.
