Barbara Mori's Super Short Hair Almost Cost Her Movie Role

Barbara Mori is a gorgeous Mexican actress.  She created lots of sizzling heat with actor Hrithik Roshan in the 2010 film Kites but almost didn't get the role.  Why?  Barbara had hair which was approximately one inch long when she tried out for the Bollywood role.

Actor Hrithik Roshan's father, Rakesh Roshan, was the producer of the film and admitted to the media that he was hesitant to sign her to the part.

When Mori met the film's director, Anurag Basu, her hair was short because she had shaved her head for the Spanish film Cosas Insignificantes (Insignificant Things) she had just finished shooting.

"I was aghast," said Rakesh. "I asked her how we would shoot with her six months down the line, but she was confident that her hair would grow or else she suggested that she would put hair extensions," he said.

Director Anurag added, "Barbara looked beautiful in short hair too. I had an option to have her with short hair in 'Kites', but in our industry actresses generally don't have short hair."  Historically Bollywood films feature women with very long hair.

Anurag said "So later when she came to India, we did some look tests with Barbara in short hair and also with hair extensions and she looked even prettier in long hair."

The film was released in India and in North America on May 21, 2010. Its 208-theater opening in North America made it the largest Bollywood release up to that time.  It was also the first Bollywood movie to reach the weekend top ten, though My Name is Khan had a larger first-weekend North American gross, with $1.9 million at 120 theaters.

The film stars Hrithik Roshan, Bárbara Mori, Kangana Ranaut, and Kabir Bedi.

Daily Hair Tip
Split ends are a separation of the hair shaft that exposes hair's fragile inner layers. The only real cure for split ends is to have them trimmed.
