The sometime Entourage guest star appeared at the recent Los Angeles premiere for Season Seven with a spectacular below-the-chin shimmering brunette bob with an eye framing blunt fringe with a hint of separation.

If you look closely you can see that Carla's hair is precision highlighted and low lighted to amp up her brunette base.

Carla Gugino's New Bob

Carla's bob hairstyle is the latest 2010 version which has been evolving since Gwyneth Paltrow showcased "the new bob" back in the Fall of 2008.

What's the "new bob" you ask?

Both the 2008 and 2010 versions are longer, softer, sleeker and wide open to hair texture and styling interpretations.  Meaning?  It can be worn bone straight or full of lots of natural texture.  It can be worn cascading from a wide range of parts and fringes designed to flatter any face shape, hair type or texture.

What Do All The New Bobs Have In Common?

What do all of the "new bobs" have in common?  They're chin length or longer and may even graze the top of the shoulders just like Carla's recent bob evolution.

New Bobs Are Flattering For Fine Hair

Although her hair length is grazing the tops of her shoulders, the edges appeared notched or possibly razored.

A bob like Carla's is especially flattering for people with fine hair when the hairstyle is cut in all one length.

When it's cut to curve under it makes hair appear fuller and airy.   Hairstylists know when a shoulder skimming bob is curled under with a big barrel curling iron the bob will have lots of lush body which can be fluffed with her fingers.

Square Face Shapes Are Instantly Flattered By 2010 Bobs

Since the longer bobs end somewhere between the chin and the top of the shoulders, the hairstyle is exceptionally flattering for square face shapes or face shapes which have a strong jawline.

The longer bob can actually be modified to work with a variety of face shapes by slightly adjusting the length or adding layering throughout the crown or the sides to build in height or slimming characteristics for fuller face shapes.

Use Styling Products To Amp Up Your Bob

Add lots of lush volume by applying a volume enhancing spray to the roots or a volume building mousse.  Create sleekness by prepping newly washed or damp strands with a defrisant.

Finish with a blinding shine courtesy of a few drops of shine serum layered with a shine enhancing styling hairspray.

Want more lift and volume throughout the hairline, the roots or the crown?  Slide on a skinny headband with teeth designed to provide instant lift.  Or create instant volume with a volume enhancing comb positioned strategically.
