Is Cobie Smulders Lusting For A New Shorter Haircut?

Cobie Smulders born Jacoba Francisca Maria Smulders on born April 3, 1982 is a Canadian actress and former model.  She is best known for her current role as Robin Scherbatsky on the CBS hit television series "How I Met Your Mother".  The former model recently looked stunning on the December 2010 cover of Maxim Magazine.

Cobie is also known for her long lush chocolate brunette tresses which has a natural wave.  Looking back at Cobie's hair history during her time as Robin Scherbatsky her hair has been worn consistently shoulder length or longer.

On February 27th Cobie walked the Red Carpet at the 19th Annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party with her naturally wavy hair straightened into a sleek hairstyle which initially gave the appearance that her shoulder length tresses had been cut very short.

Upon further review it became obvious Cobie had a small ponytail extending from the back of the pinned up hairstyle.  In fact, if you didn't look closely at Cobie's hairstyle you might have missed the sleek little tail at the back.

Luckily Cobie posed from a variety of angles so that it was possible to see her hair from the front, the side and the back.

Is A Major Haircut In Cobie's Future?

Many fans and Cobie watchers fear the "How I Met Your Mother" actress was wearing her hair all pinned up in a faux pixie cut in order to test the waters for getting her own long strands cut into a much shorter look.

Elite HairTalk Member, Hawg, has predicted Cobie will get a "major haircut" in "the near future."  Hawg who is great at making celebrity hairstyle predictions posted "when I first saw this picture (0f Cobie on February 27th), I thought she'd done it already, but it's just pulled up."

Hawg also noted "looking at the pictures of her on Getty and WireImage, she seems to be wearing it up most of the time. I just have a feeling she's going to cut it. I've known a lot of women that eventually cut their hair after wearing it up most of the time. I know that's not very scientific; it's more of just an observation."

Hawg has had a great track record predicting the hair trends of a variety of celebrities so I definitely believe he has made a good call about Cobie's future hair length.

I would agree if Cobie is consistently wearing her hair up she may be longing for a shorter hairstyle.

It's possible how Cobie wears her hair is clearly defined in her contract with CBS.  If her contract prohibits her from cutting her hair or wearing it in a drastically different style or color during the season, she may have to wait to cut her hair until after the season wraps.

At that point only time will tell to see what happens with Cobi's hair.
