Matilda Ledger is the famous look-a-like daughter of the late actor, Heath Ledger and actress hairstyle. The star crossed couple met in the Summer of 2004 on the set of Brokeback Mountain and fell in love.  Matilda was born on October 28, 2005 in New York City.

Everything about the fair haired Matilda and her life has involved the media in some aspect.   Her godparents are Jake Gyllenhaal who was her father's co-star in Brokeback Mountain and Busy Philipps who was Michelle William's cast mate in TV's Dawson's Creek.  She is a true celebrity child.

Moving To Brooklyn To Prepare For Arrival Of Matilda Ledger

As a result of his relationship with Michelle and the impending birth of Matilda, Ledger sold his residence in Bronte, New South Wales,  and moved to the United States, where he shared an apartment with Williams, in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn, from 2005 until 2007.

In September 2007, Williams' father confirmed to Sydney's Daily Telegraph that Ledger and Williams had ended their relationship.  After his break-up with Williams, in late 2007 and early 2008, the tabloid press and other public media linked Ledger romantically with supermodels Helena Christensen, Gemma Ward and with former child star, actress Mary-Kate Olsen. 

The world was shocked when Ledger's body was found on January 22, 2008.  Matilda, who had been the apple of her father's eye, was 3 years old at the time.  She was very young at the time of her father's death but Michelle has worked to help her little girl deal with the loss.

Matilda will be turning six years old within the next six weeks.  Although her mother, Michelle Williams, is extremely private, the actress continues to work in films and on various projects.

Michelle is currently on the cover October 2011 Vogue Magazine celebrating her new role playing the iconic Marilyn Monroe in a new film.  The magazine hits news stands on September 20th.

What One Thing Michelle Williams Wants For Her Daughter

Michelle talked to Vogue about where her head is at after the loss of Ledger and her wishes for her tow headed daughter.  Matilda currently splits her time with her mom between their home in Brooklyn and the country.

Michelle said that there's one thing she wants for her daughter more than anything else.  "I wanted her to have the warmth and bustle and security of family." Hence various members of her family taking up residence alongside the duo in their large brownstone.

Extending Matilda's Childhood As Long As Possible

While Michelle is very private, her goal of having family surrounding Matilda means that the presence of the group in their home brings a lack of privacy.  Michelle and Matilda have come to expect this when their home is full of family.

"That's what seems the most rotten thing about it to me. And I'm going to do everything in my power to make her feel safe and protected, and to extend her childhood for as long as possible."

Although Michelle does a very good job of keeping Matilda's life normal and out of the limelight, as a famous child of famous parents the paparazzi are constantly on the lookout for the mother-daughter team.

Matilda doesn't follow the media touted fashion trending of her celebrity kid peers like Suri Cruise or the Jolie-Pitt kids.

Matilda's Hair

The 6 year old does currently rock a very cute long blonde bob hairstyle complete with tousled bangs.  She also looks very much like her famous father, especially her eyes and has the beautiful white blonde hue of her famous mother.  There's no doubt that Matilda will be a beauty when she's all grown up.  But will she pursue acting?  Only time will tell.
