Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O'Connor (born 7 November 1996) is known by her stage name Lorde.

The New Zealand singer and songwriter is an International sensation.

Lorde's gen edge hair styles are almost as noteworthy as her music which consists of a wide range of subgenres of electronica, pop and rock, including dream pop and Indietronica.

In 2013, the Generation Edge princess was named among Time's most influential teenagers in the world.

The following year, she made her way into Forbes' "30 Under 30" list.

Why Lorde Is A Gen Edge Hair Icon

There's no question Lorde is bursting with self confidence and self knowledge.

Lorde is 100% true to herself, whether that means she's seen as the awkward nerdy girl at the back of the class or the poster girl for weird quirky girls.

Although she burst onto the music scene with an explosion of thick auburn edged curls, she constantly tinkers with her hair.

She showcased stick straight dark brunette strands on Instagram.  She's almost unrecognizable with her complete change.

There's no question Lorde is on the edge.

One Part Indie Siren, One Part Chameleon, One Part Girl Power

She's one part brooding Indie siren, one part new girl power and one part chameleon.

Keenly aware of her explosive talent, her music is minimally produced to allow her to sing any melody she wants, layering them over one another to create a very unique choral effect.

Although Lorde might not seem mainstream, her song "Royals" was #1 on the radio for nine straight weeks.

Wildly Fluctuating Hair, Make-up And Fashions

Her emphasis on individual style manifests in her wildly fluctuating hair, make-up and fashions. She's resourceful, realistic, resilient and always on the edge.

In mid-2013, Lorde released her debut single " Royals". It became an international crossover hit, peaking atop the US Billboard Hot 100.

Her explosive musical success has made Lorde the youngest solo artist to achieve a US number-one single since Tiffany with her number-one hit "I Think We're Alone Now" in 1987.

Lorde Is Anything But Niche

Her commitment to technology is uncanny and she is adored by consumers.

Lorde is anything but niche. She's huge.

Despite the commercial and critical success of her music, and the fact that she was signed to Universal at the age of 13, Lorde is continually portrayed as an underdog.  This label has added to her cachet.

Summary - Lorde's Gen Edge Hair

When Lorde performed on The David Letterman show on CBS her hair was a gorgeous explosion of chocolate brown ringlets edged with hints of gold and auburn.

Although Lorde is primarily known for her stunning natural textured hairstyles, don't expect her to always wear her hair honoring her curls.

Lorde is constantly changing and has already been experimenting with wearing her hair bone straight.
