Since she burst onto the celebrity scene on American Idol in Season 5, her career has blown up.

Unfortunately, along the way, Katheraine McPhee Hair Disasters have diverted attention from her beautiful voice, lovely smile and endless charm.

Luckily, the songbird's personal life has managed to distract fans from the various Katharine McPhee hair disasters which have popped up over the years.

Her hair disasters over the past few years have included poorly chosen blonde and Ombre hues.

They've also included an array of ill-suited bangs along with poorly executed unflattering haircuts plus textures.

Learning From Hair Disasters Over The Years

Although Katharine has had her share of hair disasters she's learned from her mistakes.

One of her very best career hairstyles and hues Katharine has showcased was the volume infused long layered bob (LOB) she rocked in 2013 on American Idol when she made a guest appearance with OneRepublic.

Her naturally raven shiny brunette tresses cascaded softly into loose waves at the top of her shoulders.

Layered waves softly balanced Katharine's heart shaped face consisting of gorgeous chiseled cheekbones and a well defined chin.

The fullness of the waves softened the potential sharpness of her jawline.

Her LOB was a much better hairstyle than her much longer American Idol hairstyle from 2006.

Do Blondes Realy Have More Fun?

In the Summer of 2009 Katharine went platinum blonde for the very first time.

The transition from her natural brunette to blonde was specifically designed to help give her a

completely new look to kick start the promotion of her her first album, Unbroken.

Reaction from fans, hair experts and fashionistas was mixed.

Blonde Hair Disaster

Katharine initially seemed to like the new blonde tresses and was quoted as saying:

"I’ve never dyed my hair before so this was a pretty drastic change. I’ve always been known as a brunette, but I’ve been thinking about it for a long time and it kind of just fit with all of the searching with the music and experimenting that I would do the same thing with my look."

Blonde Doesn't Work For Everyone

The reality?  It was a blonde hair disaster for the beauty whose stunning dark eyes and eyebrows just didn't work with the stark platinum hue.

The bleached blonde color also make Katharine looked washed out and her hair appeared drab and damaged.

A better look for Katharine has been the subtle infusion of soft caramel, milk chocolate and light auburn hues which she's showcased throughout her dark brunette strands.

According to People Magazine Katharine said "it's always nice to have a reason to go back."

The 26-year-old natural brunette said of the change from the blond locks she debuted in August. "I loved having blond hair -- it's so much fun."

The American Idol runner told People she was happy to ditch her lighter locks for a number of reasons.

She said "Blond was pretty hard on my hair," and "I guess my hair is thanking me now."

Since she started her co-starring run on Scorpion on CBS, she's left all of her hair disasters ranging from poorly chosen hues to misshapen fringes and volume starved locks behind.

Her long brunette bob looks shiny, healthy and is perfectly cut and coiffed.

Daily Hair Tip
For a low maintenance style, try to work with your natural hair type rather than against it. For example, if your hair is naturally wavy, select a hairstyle that works easily with the waves.
