A lot of Grey's Anatomy fans were shocked, then devastated, when the fabulously tressed Patrick Dempsey (Dr. Derek Shepard) was fired from the show.
The reality? Dempsey's consistently great hair doesn't excuse bad behavior, which was rumored to be the real reason Shonda Rhimes cut him from the wildly popular show.
I've been a huge fan of Grey's Anatomy since the very first episode aired. I loved MerDer as a couple and rooted for them to win all of their various life challenges.
Unfortunately, as very reliable sources reported, Patrick Dempsey's very bad behavior on the Grey's Anatomy set hit a breaking point. There was no other choice to kill off Dr. Shepard, great hair and all.
Katherine Heigl
Another former member of the Grey's Anatomy cast famous for her great hair was actress Katherine Heigl who played the very popular Izzie Stevens.
The actress is famous for her bad behavior on Grey's. Radar Online noted the beautiful blonde actress declined consideration for an Emmy for Grey's Anatomy telling the media "the writing for the show wasn't good enough to elicit a nomination." Ouch.
After leaving Grey's Anatomy, the actress let Shonda Rhimes know she would love to return, but Rhimes wasn't interested due to all the reported problems the actress caused during her time on Grey's.
Burning Bridges On Knocked Up Movie Set
Heigl also publicly angered her co-stars, director and producers in 2007 when she dissed her only box office movie success, Knocked up, as "sexist".
Insiders on her recently cancelled NBC TV series, State of Affairs, noted she was demanding and difficult to work with.
Whether the information is correct or not, State of Affairs was one of the first of NBC's freshmen series to be cancelled.
I was sad to see State of Affairs cancelled simply because Heigl did showcase some killer hairstyles in several of the episodes.
Shannen Doherty
Beautiful brunette actress Shannen Doherty (Brenda Walsh) was the poster child for gorgeous tresses on Beverly Hills 90210.
Unfortunately her luscious chocolate hued locks was only a very small part of the equation.
Eventually, due to her reported difficult on-set behavior, Brenda was written off the show.
At one point Doherty acknowledged to the media she may have earned her demanding reputation.
The actress was quoted in People Magazine as saying“I always stood up for the right causes, but I don’t think I was always diplomatic.” Doherty also added “But recently I have learned to be diplomatic.”
Unfortunately, Doherty didn't learn to be more diplomatic before she behaved badly on TV's Charmed.
Sometimes we hear someone who’s behaving badly should get a pass because they have great hair, a fabulous smile, or because they really don't mean to be misbehaving.
Should they really? Great hair doesn't excuse bad behavior in many circles.
It obviously didn't save Patrick Dempsey, Katherine Heigl, Shannen Doherty or other celebrities.
