I love Isla Fisher as an actress. I think she's adorably cute with a beautiful head of cascading red tresses. I also love a good Chick Flick, what red blooded American female doesn't?
I figured the release of Isla's new movie - Confessions Of A Shopaholic - right before the Valentine's Day Weekend would be a big bonus for the success of the film.
Afterall, what better day than the big V Day to see a romantic comedy?
Sadly, Isla as shopaholic Rebecca Bloomwood and the film left me fidgeting in my seat.I started thinking about all the blogging I wasn't doing, the emails I had to send and even the un-returned phone messages waiting patiently on my iPhone.
However, the movie dragged in parts, I didn't see real sizzle with Isla's on-screen love interest Luke Brandon (Hugh Dancy) even though he was definitely hot, and the plot was old and predictable.
At one point I considered getting up and leaving the movie but convinced myself to hang in there because maybe the film would pick up. It didn't.
The odd thing was her hair was straight in Miami which all of us girls with natural waves, curls and frizz know is Humidity Hell.
There was a scene at a ball where her beads popped off her jacket but it really wasn't funny. No one in the theater was laughing and I was thinking.....gee...maybe I should really just go.
I was really disappointed the movie wasn't better because I was lusting after another good flick after enjoying last week's He's Just Not That Into You.
Isla said if the movie didn't do well she would blame it on Amy Adams who looks a lot like Isla. I think at this point it's a good plan.
Would I recommend this movie? Well, if you want to see her fashions and good views of New York then by all means, but if you saw HJNTIY this movie pales by comparison. Sorry Isla.
