There was talk about Jon having another woman and Kate's suspicious connection with the bodyguard.
Also, there was buzz about Kate being more focused on her career than being a mom with Jon being the hands on parent.
Of course when it comes to tabloids you never know what is truth and what is fiction. In fact, many fans wondered if there was even marital problems between Jon and Kate.
Monday night millions of viewers watched on TLC as the parents of eight children (twins plus sextuplets) announced they were ending their marriage.
Instead of watching the ratings plummet, TLC, the cable show (a unit of Maryland-based Discovery Communications) which airs reality show "Jon & Kate Plus 8," reported that the Monday night "we're breaking up" episode attracted its biggest prime-time audience ever at 10.6 million total viewers with 6.5 million of those in the key 18-49 age group, a demographic sought by advertisers.
The Monday night episode aired the same day Kate Gosselin filed legal papers for divorce in the couple's home state of Pennsylvania. The show historically has been popular because it documented the many trials as well as triumphs as the eight children grew up.
Although there are many opinions about the show and the Gosselins at this point, many fans applaud the Gosselins being willing to share the ultimate truth about the difficulties in their marriage rather than hiding the problems.
The Kate & Jon Plus Eight will continue, even during the separation and divorce which gives new meaning to "reality" show. The marital complications of the Gosselins actually offer viewers an opportunity to see some of the struggles parenting can add to a marital relationship as well as how separation and divorce can impact the children.
Many fans and critics are applauding The Gosselins and TLC for being willing to continue even after a divorce has been put into the works. Although it is impossible to guess how everything will play out over the next set of shows, it is expected to increase viewship overall.
