No Curly Girls In Miss America 2011 Finalist Ranks - No Redheads Either

Of the twelve Miss America finalists for 2011 there wasn't a single curly girl in the bunch.  Well at least they didn't wear their hair with an array of ringlets, kinks or coils.

Ironically the twelve finalists were almost evenly split between blondes and brunettes.  There wasn't   All the twelve contestants wore their hair without any type of frontal fringe.  Some wore their hair with a hint of a side fringe but no blunt cut bangs.

In addition, the majority of the Miss America finalists wore their hair shoulder length or longer.   Miss Delaware who suffers from alopecia actually wore a very long blonde wig with loose curls throughout the perimeter.  Miss Kentucky was the only African American finalist.  She wore her long dark hair pulled up in a sleek ballerina style bun with her evening gown.

Only one of the twelves finalists, Miss New York, didn't have long tresses.   She showcased brunette strands coiffed into a chin length bob.

Miss Arizona and Miss Washington showcased long blonde hair with loose waves and curls.    Miss Oklahoma wore her long butter blonde tresses pulled to one side with waves and curls intermingled throughout the perimeter.    Miss Nebraska had long platinum blonde hair brushed to one side with just a slight hint of waves.

Long Chocolate Tresses

Miss Texas showcased long chocolate brown tresses with lots of waves around the perimeter while Miss Arkansas wore her long medium chocolate brown hair straight with a little bend.

Miss Hawaii had medium brown tresses which extended below her shoulders in straight sleek panels.  Miss California had light brunette tresses which were also coiffed into a sleek straight style with lots of volume and movement.

Miss Virginia had dark shiny brunette locks with sleek top and lots of waves and curls.

The show which celebrated the 90th anniversary of Miss America moved along at a very brisk clip also said good-bye to Miss America 2010 and introduced Miss America's from the past.

Final Five - Three Blondes And Two Brunettes

The five finalists all had long hair and included three blondes and two brunettes.  When the show was all said and done,  Miss Nebraska, Teresa Scanlon, a platinum blonde with long wavy strands was crowned Miss America 2011.  She is also the youngest Miss America in the history of the pageant.
