Fewer Visits To Hairstylist Are One Way People Are Saving In Recession

The economic news took a turn from bad to worse this week and the stock market has reflected the news.

Americans are tightening their belts to survive and are keeping their wallets closed.  How are they saving money and what are they cutting  back on?

According to a survey released by Harris Interactive many people are saving in every way possible.

Since the economic recession doesn't seem to be improving any time in the near future the Harris poll found the following ways that people are cutting back their spending.

The Harris Interactive poll, surveyed 7 times since 2009, measures how Americans are saving money. More then half (67%) are buying more generic brands – the highest number reported in two years.

Almost half of Americans are brown bagging their lunch and making fewer trips to the hair stylist, and latest results reveal we're saving even more since February of this year. Top 10 Ways People Are Saving Money During Current Recession

-Fewer visits to the hair stylist

-Buying generic brands

-Packing lunch

-Using refillable bottles

-Cancelling subscriptions (newspapers, magazines)

-Cutting back on dry cleaning

-Reducing or cancelling cable television service

-Skipping morning coffee

-Changing or canceling land line or cell phone service

-Carpooling or using mass transit

Have you cut back on your expenses?  What have you cut back on to save money during the recession?

Daily Hair Tip
For a low maintenance style, try to work with your natural hair type rather than against it. For example, if your hair is naturally wavy, select a hairstyle that works easily with the waves.
