Anne Hathaway Short Faux Pob How To Hair

Anne Hathaway Short Faux Bob How To Hair

The bob is a classic hairstyle which can morph through a wide range of customizations. Bobs can be as short as ear length to as long as below-the-chin.

The bob can be styled into a traditionally sleek and straight look or it can be amped up with natural texture like waves and curls.  There are also inverted bobs and those with highlights or lowlights for a more dimensional look.

The bob can also be utilized as a transition hairstyle from long to short or vice versa.  Bobs can be dramatic and used to visually alter a long standing image or style.

Anne Hathaway showcases a short brunette bob in the film One Day as part of her evolution as Emma Morley.

Although fans were shocked to see the beautiful actress with a short bob, it's actually a brunette short wig which is perfectly styled off a hairline to crown side part and a slightly contoured top layers.  Anne's short bob has long side-swept layers which are lightly tousled. Some hair experts might classify Anne's hairstyle as a Pob which is a cross between a Pixie and A Bob or Pixie+Bob = Pob which was made famous by Victoria Beckham and Katie Holmes.

The bob wig which Anne wore in One Day was a perfect transition hairstyle for her character's growth.  The hairstyle is very flattering and communicates an easy elegance.

How To Style

Whether you decide to go with a real haircut or with a wig version like Anne, the Pob can be a snap to style.

Follow the steps below to re-create a slightly tousled Pob:

1.  Cleanse hair in lukewarm water with appropriate product for hair type and texture.

2.  Apply rinse-out conditioner from the top of the ears down to the ends unless hair is fine or thin.  Use fingers or a wide tooth comb to detangle hair.

3.  Rinse out conditioner and finish with a cool or cold water rinse to close cuticle and build in shine.

4.  Towel blot and apply a styling cocktail which may or may not include a defrisant, leave-in conditioner and a volume enhancing mousse or styling cream.  For extra root lift you may wish to apply a volume enhancer.

5.  Blow dry hair using a round brush and pull hair upwards at the root.  Use fingers to tousle hair slightly as you dry.

6.  For a more finished style use a small flat iron on random sections.

7.  Finish with a spritz of hairspray or a shine enhancing spray.  Remember a little bit goes a long way.

8.  Dress up the look by adding a skinny crystal encrusted headband or a small barrette.
