Nina Dobrev Gets Giddy Around Ian Somerhalder On 2011 Emmy Red Carpet

Vampire Diaries actress Nina Dobrev is not nominated for a 2011 Emmy Award but she is vying for a big win on the Red Carpets.  As previously mentioned, the E! Fashion Police team have named her as one of the top five female celebrities to watch on the carpet.

The beautiful brunette star of the vampire focused series is also being closely watched for her off-screen romance with hottie Ian Somerhalder who plays the smoldering Damon.

Damon is actually the brother of her on-screen love interest. The media was buzzing that Nina and Ian might walk the Red Carpet together at the 2011 Emmy Awards to bring their romance out of the closet into the public.

Giuliana Rancic snagged her first interview of the 2011 Emmy Awards with the lovely Nina who seemed a little nervous.  The young star was stunning in a red strapless Donna Karan mermaid style gown which showed off her amazing figure and ended in a beautiful floor grazing ruffle.

Her long below-the-shoulder brunette tresses were worn sleek, shiny and mostly straight with just a hint of curve at the bottom.    In addition, her hair was all directed over the one side and worn down and over one shoulder almost like an accessory.

She also was wearing Brian Atwood shoes and Neil Lane jewelry.  Giuliana who was also wearing a red strapless gown teased Nina about their similar selections.

Nina laughed and said that obviously they had co-ordinated their looks.

When asked how much of what she was wearing was actually her own Nina paused and thought for a minute before saying "well, nothing, actually.  Nothing of what I'm wearing is actually mine."

Nina said she wouldn't be able to go home with any of what she was wearing but she's "OK with it because it's not like I'm going to Prom or like I'm ever going to reuse this outfit.  I'd rather go back to the designer or go do something else or better.

Giuliana told Nina that a lot of people are comparing her to Blake Lively.  When asked how she felt about the comparison Nina said "thank you, I take it as a compliment and I can only hope that I would follow in Blake's footsteps and I hope that continues to skyrocket into bigger movies and related things and I follow in those footsteps."  Nina said "I have very high aspirations and maybe someday I'll be here nominated for something but I'll have to work very hard to be here."

Giuliana also said that the rumor mill had it that Nina and Ian (an Emmy presenter tonight) were buzzing that they were going to walk the Red Carpet together.  When asked the status of that possibility Nina seemed a little flustered.  She said "well Ian is here somewhere.  Somewhere on the Red Carpet.  He's definitely....if I was standing next to him I would definitely be his arm candy but um, yeah, that's all I can say right now.  I get a little nervous when you...uh yeah."

She confirmed that she's gets a "little shy, a little giddy."
