Katherine Heigl Regrets Past Comments About Grey's Anatomy

No, Katherine Heigl hasn't decided to go back to Grey's Anatomy, but she's trying to mend some broken fences as she heads off into the Sunset.

The former Izzie Stevens who spent six years on the show told the media she regrets snubbing the Emmy Awards in 2008 and blaming the hard working writers on the show for her decision not to enter the awards race.

Katie, as some of her friends call her, made headlines when she told reporters she wouldn't be defending her Best Actress crown because she didn't feel the roles she had been written recently on Grey's warranted her nomination.

As you can imagine, her comments to the media upset the show's writers.  Hindsight is always 20/20.  Now that she has officially left the show that made her a big star, Katherine admits her comments were mean and she could probably have handled the situation better.

She told Entertainment Weekly magazine, "At the time I thought I was doing the right thing and I wanted to be clear that I wasn't snubbing the Emmys."  She continued "I was just afraid that if I said, 'No comment', it was going to come across like I couldn't be bothered...

She believes now "I could have more gracefully said that without going into a private work matter.  It was between me and the writers. I ambushed them, and it wasn't very nice or fair."

The new mother also said "Everybody has bad days. I was a little defensive about my season (on the show) because I thought I hadn't had a great one."

Heigl admits she felt compelled to personally apologize to "Grey's Anatomy" creator Shonda Rhimes almost as soon as she'd made her remarks.  She adds, "I was just like, 'Look, that was obnoxious. I apologize.' She was like... 'I get it'."

The next question is whether or not Katherine will apologize for her comments regarding her starring role in "Knocked Up".  She reportedly upset writers, producers, directors and crew when she made some less than positive comments about the film being sexist which launched her from Grey's to big film productions.

The last appearance Katherine made on Grey's was the January 21, 2010 episode, titled "I Like You So Much Better When You're Naked"  had newlyweds Alex (Justin Chambers) and Izzie discussing their issues which Derek basically telling Izzie he was done with her and sending her away.  Previously Izzie was fired from Grey's and took a job at another hospital outside of Seattle.

Katherine has told the media now that her time on Grey's is over, she places first priority in her life on her daughter Naleigh she and musician husband Josh Kelly adopted early in the Fall of 2009.

Katherine's current project is in the film "One for the Money", based on the Janet Evanovich novel of the same name. She plays Stephanie Plum, an unemployed lingerie buyer who becomes a bounty hunter to support herself.  Reese Witherspoon was previously attached to the role, but because it lay dormant for several years, she dropped out.
