Patrick Dempsey's Departure Would Be Major Hair Loss For Grey's Anatomy

There's a big media buzz about the possibility of actor Patrick Dempsey leaving Grey's Anatomy.

As the story goes,  the actor’s publicist released a statement to EW suggesting that a recent interview Dempsey gave to the Italian edition of Vanity Fair magazine was taken out of context.

Supposedly Dempsey said, when referring to his role on Grey's “It will be my last."  He also said “I don’t know what will happen with the other characters, but for me, it’s done.”

Although it seemed pretty clear to everyone, EW.com included that Dempsey is planning to end his time as Dr. McDreamy, his publicist claims he was referring to the fact that  his contract is up at the end of next season and Dempsey has no idea of what the future holds.

Really?  I guess you could spin this many ways.

An even bigger question?  Other than his great looks and amazing hair, probably the best on the show, would the world miss Patrick Dempsey if he left Grey's Anatomy?

In my humble opinion the Meredith and Derek storyline has been pretty yawn worthy lately.  But then after you've been shot by a crazed gunman (Derek), had a stress induced miscarriage (Meredith) and had your medical trials ruined by your wife (Derek), what else is there to do?

Yeah, through it all Dr. McDreamy has had every strand of gorgeous full and wavy hair in place.  He never breaks a sweat no matter what he is dealing with.  He rarely raises his voice.

So maybe ABC will back a money truck up to his house and he will sign on for a few more years but seriously, other than his great hair and handsome face, would Grey's suffer with the loss of Dr. McDreamy?

What do you think?
